Researchers in Japan have discovered a new way to strengthen steel. Kota
Sawada and colleagues at the National Institute for Materials Science in
Tsukuba have made a steel that is a hundred times stronger than the
strongest `creep-resistant' steel available today. The method could lead
to the economical manufacture of large-scale steel components for
high-temperature applications (M Taneike et al. 2003 Nature 424 294).

Ceramic dispersions in superalloys by attriting the mixed powders and
then hot isostatic pressing is both wickedly effective and not new.
One cannot cast the dispersion-strneghened molten alloy because of the
density difference - the stuff vigorously unmixes. ($50,000/lb
fabrication in space is ha ha ha.) To generate a dispersion of much
smaller particles in bulk phase is clever and valuable.
Uncle Al once had to "dissolve" copper phthalocyanine pigment in
Plexiglas to color an implantable medical device. No additives
allowed, no derivatives allowed, needed about 0.05% wt-wt. No
particles could be visible at 20X magnification. Phthalo Blue is
utterly insoluble in absolutely everything short of hot concentrated
sulfuric acid or refluxing nitrobenzene. If you screw with it the blue
stuff undergoes a polymorphic lattice transition and changes color to
greenish. The "task" (management is a collection of dancing idiots)
was part of a two-year project.
1) Find an attritor vendor.
2) Submit a pound of Phthalo Blue and a pound of emulsion
polymerization PMMA teeny beads for a free evaluation.
3) Get back a pound of masterbatch pigment apparently soluble in
MMA casting dope and with 500X the tinctural power of bulk pigment.
4) Net cost: postage one way plus $30 for the PMMA.
(5) Get fired for insubordination - succeeding at an impossible
task. Shucks, all they had to do was tell me to screw around for two
years burning budget. I would have cured cancer or something instead.
Phalo Blue big flat molecules van der Walls stack like playing cards
in a deck. If you try to grind smaller than a micron, all you do is
shuffle without making anything any smaller. In an attritor wailing
away with PMMA added, every time the deck was cut a smear of PMMA was
added. Even though Phtalo Blue was utterly insoluble, it made a nice
molecular dispersion - every molecule spaced by PMMA on either side
via physical mixing with an amorphous polymer phase. When the
masterbatch was added to MMA casting dope, the PMMA solvated and
swelled. The resulting tinctural power of isolated molecules was
awesome. The pound of masterbatch was 100 years' supply.
The eventual very successful device was deepsixed:
1) If the new stuff is not accepted, doctors may reject current
devices by association.
2) If the new stuff is accepted, what do we do with old stuff
inventory?
The MBA parameterized DCF/ROI minimized risk assessment was therefore
to do nothing different or new. 18 months after I left, the company
had moved to larger quarters and went bankrupt. Apparently there is
some risk involved in not taking any risks. (Their competitors bribed
the FDA to allow a soluble colorant. The trivial safe and effective
answer was never commercially used.)

Evrybodys building with bilet ,,
bilet in colors aluninum.
Pollished black crome bilet ,,
No one wants a stock block any more.
Bilet blocks with shatter pruff rods.
Of corse my lpes has no rods.
Rocket fueled steam ballenced pre hot bells.
the 25000 hp drag car.
No external air supply ,,3 stages fire in each cylinder as pre denation

I stuck wood inside the steel and made it stronger and beat that ,,,a
pipe with a stick threw it wount find a place to break very easy.
Wrap a celophane around a smoke and tie it in a know with out busting
the paper on the smoke.
Thats not harder steel ,,,just an eleimnation of places to start a
break.
To work it must remain corosion free ,,,bet they left that partout till
they sell the stee l.
Bet it sucks in ice water ,,the properties could be all fucked up when
cold ,,it could snap in two but its self.
IN steel ,,,one thing is gained for one thing lost.
The wood rod in the alu tube lawn chair made the tube 1000 times
stronger.
It beat telidines stuctual aviation grade carbon fiber ,,,100 times
and cost 30 cents a foot.
MONOFILIMENT fishing line is 400 times stronger than steel.
In some task .
SO WHY THE ***** do they say that ***** ??
stock intrest
