I asked on sci.physics if matter is energy, and was called an idiot:)

You are an idiot if you can't understand this simple relationship: E = mc^2
As Einstein explains, " ... very small amounts of mass may be converted
into a very large amount of energy and vice versa. The mass and energy were in
fact equivalent, according to the formula [E is equal to m
c-squared]. This was demonstrated by Cockcroft and Walton in 1932,
experimentally." -- Einstein
In 1932 John Cockcroft and E.T.S. Walton broke apart an atom. The fragments had
slightly less mass in total than the original atom (meaning there was slightly
less matter in total), but they flew apart with great energy. Part of the mass
of the tiny bit of matter [the atom] was transformed into a relatively great
amount of energy.

Mass and energy are just different manifestations of the same thing,
as Einstein explains:

Agreed they are different.

Not different things, as you asserted in your push for dualism, just different
manifestations of the same thing, as Einstein explains:
http://www.aip.org/history/einstein/voice1.htm
"It followed from the special theory of relativity that mass and energy are
both but different manifestations of the same thing -- a somewhat unfamiliar
conception for the average mind. Furthermore, the equation E is equal to m
c-squared, in which energy is put equal to mass, multiplied by the square of
the velocity of light, showed that very small amounts of mass may be converted
into a very large amount of energy and vice versa. The mass and energy were in
fact equivalent, according to the formula mentioned before. This was
demonstrated by Cockcroft and Walton in 1932, experimentally." -- Einstein
So where does that leave your idea of dualism?

The idiot, Septic, is somebody who snips an
argument believing that they have therefore
altered it. Ed stated that mass is confused
by some w/ matter in the equation "E=MC^2".
Matter can not travel faster than the speed
of light. Your stupdity, on the other hand,
does indeed transcend the bounds of science
& logic. You're as dumb as the day is long.
You can listen as Einstein himself explains
his equation. The "M" stands for mass & not
matter, Septic. You know, that pile of mush
sloshing around in that bone-head of yours.
