You are. Mistaken, that is.

The force F on the vehicle is *irrelevant* to the _momentum_ - m*v

Tony: The (net) force exerted between the car and the wall is - as they say
in Dixie - "directly proportional to the speed" of the car; at the time of
impact. I doubt that acceleration, or deceleration would make very much
difference.

the _kinetic energy_ - (1/2)*m*v^2 - of the impact.

The kinetic energy would go into scrunching, and smashing the car;
distorting, breaking and or moviing the wall, and be lost to unrecoverable
heating.
