When I saw the "Internet Bullying" thread, I thought,
wow! Someone had finally complained about the fact
that half of the posts aren't about science! But no, it
was simply hanson, bullying again.
...
I think we need to tone down the name calling.

Free speech. The position of Miss Manners is taken.
Though I don't post here a lot, I read a lot. I've been
wanting to post this thread forever, but I thought it
might
a) make it worse
It will have zero net effect in less than a week.
or
b) distract from the science we are supposed to
be talking about.
Much of what we learn is context. Context isn't only science.
So, if we could all graduate from kindergarten
now, and actually respect each other's opinions
(even if they are rediculous and idiotic) and if we
want to argue opinions we do so without attacking
the speaker, but the argument, I think that
sci.chem won't be as useless as it has become.
There have been real questions asked, and real answers given. Where someone is
asking to have their homework assignments done for them, this is usually
caught. The balance appears to be AP trying to wrap the Earth in tinfoil, so
that we bake like a potato.
Maybe it is "useless" simply because it is summer, and the minds with
questions that drive "usefullness" are basking in the Sun-light. When more is
asked, sometimes more is given.
I have to dig through piles of arguments ad
hominem to actually find the question that
someone was asking and then I have to dig
again to find the answers that people suggest.
You should see the discussions!
We all have.
So please, let us have real conversations. If
you have a real problem with someone, learn to
ignore them...
Excellent advice. If certain posters don't allow you to hear their real
message, only the "body language", then killfile them.
Basic civilization?
They are violating the charter when posting off-topic. They won't stop for
that, they won't stop for your "tiny little feelings". Grab that fact and
hold on tight.
You'll get the rest of your lesson from the other responses, I guess. When
Nature needs your attention, She breaks your leg. Be interesting to see what
hanson has to say.
David A. Smith
[hanson]
Smitty, you have uncommon wisdom and insights!
Time permitting I shall be back and discuss in more
detail the treacherous and calloused behavior of the
class 1 enviros, the green shits at EPA, that have
cost you your job. (about which goody-2-shoe yenta
Ryn could care less in her fanaticism)
It may be of small consolation to you, but never the
less provide you with some emotional satisfaction that
the $620 million budget cut that EPA got, may have
provided the cut to get rid of the green shits there
that have caused your personal tragedy.... along
the motto... what goes around comes around.
Take care and till later, Smitty
