Well believe it or not, we have a process that we invented called
echoing, and when people read some interesting stuff here,
they often echo it in various other media. I'm sure you are
aware of that.
In that way we network. Like the old boys club but not quite.
Rather that the net is like a large community and it is much
better to cooperate with that community rather than run up
against it.
So at times like these most high ranking managers want to have
their finger on the pulse. Not to mention that by watching
trends you can capitalize on investments.
SO Ballmer came out last week (I think it was last week)
and gave his two cents worth regarding the security problem.
It was not as well received as the positive messages of
love and prosperity that were coming from Bill.
Yes, he echoed the concerns of the community, and promised
to take those concerns into consideration. But somehow I was
left with the feeling that he was not one of us.
That his plans do not coincide with ours.
What we as a community want, is cooperation for everyone's benefit,
to get tech back where it should be and to create a positive
environment for manufacturing of new products.
Manufacturing is difficult enough with having to face
risks after the products have gone to market.
It is not just about securing your pc, it is ALSo about securing
your peripherals. Securing them from attack from any number
of sources. A little update here, a little update there,
on a timer and gee, now your product no longer works.
Case in point the Rio Riot.
Now there are many other such devices in use today including
the 900 dollar Ipod. I am sure that should these devices
suddenly cease to function as they did when they were
purchased, then thars gonna be a hangin.
Either we heal as a team, or we will die, as individuals.
We scratch and claw, for that inch, because at the end of the day,
thats gonna make the difference between winning and losing.
