River of ***** |
247 new posts to sci.physics this morning. Seven were worth reading.
sci.chem is similarly sterile.
Uncle Al logged on in 1995. 79,300 posts since then. The intervening
decade has witnessed a tragedy of the commons. sci.physics has deeply
fallen over the line of Sturgeon's Law. Gresham's law rules to its
odious inevitable destination. Unmoderated Usenet is a river of *****.
In order to maintain an untenable position one must be actively
ignorant - though stupidity, religion, or insanity are passively
adequate.
Screw it. Let the world save itself. I've got better things to do
with my resources. The parity Eotvos experiment will be replayed
calormetrically, by a chemical group, under written agreement.
Physics groups are still talking and saying nothing. Let their wind
blow - my people will do it. Read about the results, either way,
after they are published.
Goodbye and - less about six sainted folks - go worship Nehemiah

Baloney. He *is* a whiner just like Old Man. At least Al posts some
good stuff on spr occasionally unlike Old Man. Man, they get a few bad

I can't review new rules that you just made up. Al was being a drama

It is a fact that he has been. You will never ack it, but
I've seen the side effects and those effects are making more
effects which create more effects. That's how the computing

That Uncle Al has not been productive is beyond question. That some who
participated might have been productive is possible, even likely. Do
your parents get the credit for your successes, or did you earn them?
Do your parents take the blame for your failures and shortcomings? No,
you earned them.
Uncle Al blathered, blustered, boiled, and behaved despicably. He has
not achieved a single publicly stated goal in the past 10 years.
Yet his signal to noise ratio ranks high among the worse in the
entire history of usenet. Have you been filtering his boilerplate

I suppose that when you skip articles you believe that means they aren't
noise. That's nice, the world revolves around you.

No, Sam passes along information which is also a useful service.
Providing a service is precisely the Uncle Al horn you've been tooting.
These inconsistencies have carried me into a position beyond wondering
about how genuine you are. Sam originates posts providing information
not before discussed in the newsgroup.
It has been rare for these tidbits to be discussed and chewed and
speculated upon as they would be over a coffee pot in a science
lab.
You see only what you wish to see through a layman's eyes. Sam serves
the newsgroup in ways Uncle Al Lacked the capacity to do.
As for -jb, I suggest you review the visciousness that went
on against him before he finally declared that he was going

John Baez was here looking for ideas and discussion. It became apparent
that that had become a waste of time with UA and his pals driving any
reasonable originality out of the newsgroups along with constantly
engaging the cranks.
Getting the scientists to quit has become a pattern. The dog pack
singles one out and then attacks him until there's nothing left.
There is more than one dog pack here. You are yourself a fringe member
of one of them.

Hang on, John Baez does still post here (assuming you're talking
about sci.physics). He certainly copies his "Finds in Mathematical
Physics" articles here, the latest one anyway, even if he doesn't
post in other threads.
John Baez was here looking for ideas and discussion. It became
apparent that that had become a waste of time with UA and his
pals driving any reasonable originality out of the newsgroups
along with constantly engaging the cranks.
Looking for ideas and discussion? He doesn't seem very forthcoming
in discussing his Finds posts, not in the lowly non-moderated groups
anyway.
In fact it crossed my mind that he may actually resent non-experts
replying to his Finds posts, suspecting they are simply trying to
"hitch a ride" so to speak in getting attention.
But who knows, maybe people in the past have abused the privilege
by obviously doing exactly that; so I'm not trying to imply he's
being unreasonable in disdaining discussion, just that it's
curious to claim he is (or has been recently) looking for it!

If Dr. Baez runs true to form his occasional presence here results
from a grep style scan for his name showing up in usenet news groups,
there to look and answer if he thinks it necessary. As he commented
recently he is so busy that often he doesn't reply to email even
from .edu sources. It is easy enough, when one has access to a unix
style usenet database of articles, to run searches for other key
words of interest while excluding articles published by known kooks.
He used to participate here more but has, as he stated in sci.physics,
moved his attention more to blogs where there are more interesting
conversations.
Doubtless Uncle Al has found one or more to his liking as well. If he
behaves himself he'll find, in general, better discussions there, for
the present anyway.

Hang on, John Baez does still post here (assuming you're talking
about sci.physics). He certainly copies his "Finds in Mathematical

I'm talking about threads not under the Weeknnn variety. I'm talking
about the last time, IIRC, he was here in s.p. The

to the way Shultz goes after Uncle or certain other individuals go

The above was basically a comment that Schwartz didn't have any
personal accomplishements--only the work of others. However, some
recognition should be given.
Ironic, given his constant disdain for managers, that his only
achievements were the efforts of his "management".
Synthesis of diamonds and the chiral Eotvos experiment are two projects
of which I am aware, diamonds several times in fact.
Agreed--but I think one can further argue that he hasn't accomplished
anything of note since he earned his bachelor's degree:
He failed to earn his Ph.D. (the reasons are somewhat unclear).
-->yet he has claimed to have a Ph.D.
He has no scientific publications of note
-->He has claimed that his joke publications were "technical"
His patents are obviously useless.
His diamond project has never showed any progress
The diamond "project" was very successful at gathering attention in the
newsgroups. That is why it kept reappearing. Schwartz even used the
phrase "third and final" to describe it at least three times (2000,
2004 and 2005). It is likely mostly a "project" only in his mind. I
doubt any serious effort was really put into it by his company.
People with real accomplishements don't feel compelled to fabricate the
sorts of stories that Schwartz has come up with.
Can anyone point to a claim of a real accomplishment by Scwhartz in the
last 20 years?
Too bad he didn't do something worthwhile.
So far he's demonstrated that he lacks the tools so perhaps he's not
quite as responsible as we'd think. Among other things, he lacks
organizational skills and recently vocalized a disdain for standard
organizing aids.
He also doesn't really understand physics. Qz.pdf is not the effort of
someone who even understood what he supposedly discussing. He recently
showed that after years of discussing the problem, he didn't even know
the mathematical definition of chirality.
He has a good memory and the ability to use Google. Even his webpage
says something like genius is the ability to look things up. No wonder
he didn't finish grad school.
I think the real reason he's so disliked by the people that matter to
his success is his incessant outragous conduct. If he were involved in
a discipline like mathematics where success generally depends more on
an individual working in isolation he might have better success, but

Arrogance combined with incompetance is not a recipe for success or
respect.
Given that his only "accomplishments" have been getting others to do
work for him, I think he would have had little success in something
like math. Given is (lack of) understanding of concepts like Green's
functions, I sincerely doubt he has the ability to do serious math.

To be fair, his constant complaint was that the "managers" weren't devoting
sufficient resources to the task. His silence when I asked why he didn't
find a venture capitalist to buy out the company's interest in the
process (cf. his personal insecticide patent) is telling, as was his silence
when several people in sci.chem made some very shrewd guesses about what
his "Devil Solvent" probably is. On the other hand, his consistent
vagueness about just what his company is and what it does leads me to believe
that it is essentially a small partnership of which he is one of the
members -- i.e. he's a manager.

Don't we all? But how the heck is anyone supposed to figure out

To do that they must be modelled mathematically, even if that

In fact mathematics does reveal physical principles, such as

Excuses, excuses. We have the power of reasoning and the ability to
use logical deduction. We alos have powerful principle of cause and
effect. We need a causal model for every observed phenomenon. Math
only shows the evolution of events, it does not explain causes.
To do that they must be modelled mathematically,
*****. They must be explained causally in a language that everyone
can understand. Otherwise, your model is just another "look ma, I know

No. Math does not reveal *****. Observation and causal logic do. To
reveal a phenomenon, one must explain the reason why it is as
observed. It does not suffice to say that energy is conserved. One
must explain why. If you can't explain why, for example, an object in
motion remains in motion, you might as well be sucking the hind tit of

3) The question is the consequence of observing someone who is so very
clearly an apologist in the face of damning evidence that love would
at least present some excuse where no other reason is evident.
4) Any truly mature person understands that while lower intelligence
humans universally confuse sex and love the two can be, and sometimes
are, mutually exclusive. That's not to say that in your case they
don't combine, but that's not a fact in evidence (as yet, but you've
been skirting the edges.)
5) Every human has their own set of attributes. Uncle Al doubtless has
some superior to mine, and there's just no question in my mind that I
have some superior to his. Your "superiority" question smacks of
testestorone poisoning. Do you write all your own material?
Based on all the above, along with a significant number of other
comments you've made in recent months, I have come to hold the opinion
that you must indeed be in love with Uncle Al. What that means to me
compared to what that means to you is not important.
Not that any of this matters to anyone other than you, and perhaps
Uncle Al. But it sure explains the unwarranted awe. I'm glad we have
been able to clear this up. Thanks for participating.
As far as being sexist goes you would do well to put your house in order
before you accuse others. The women I hang around with really get angry
whem someone like you, who claims to participate in life on equal terms
with everyone else, plays the stalking card the moment that the going
gets a little rough. Another version of crying wolf we really don't need
because it tends to desensitize folks who need to keep their guard up for
those times when the real dangers accompanying an actual physical stalking
do come along.
In the meantime, please study objective and subjective.
Just to keep things in perspective, I think the chiral Eotvos experiment
proposed by Uncle Al should be run and someday will be run. I think it
will result in a null output. I detest loopholes. But IMO the reason
no one is going to run it for some time is Uncle Al. For now he and
the experiment seem to have been informally blacklisted. That's what
happens when you bite the hand that feeds you. Sounds like you and
Uncle Al are the only ones surprised. Is that brilliant?

@s887.apx1.sbo.ma.dialup.rcn.com:
Uncle is not the only one in these newsgroups where the
stalking has turned, not only viscious, but physical.
Really? Then it is a matter for the police,
This kind of stalking isn't against the law...yet.
Then is isn't "stalking" at all because "stalking" is illegal.
Certain actions can be actionable under a stalking law.
These laws are not blanket penal codes that have a miscellaneous
category of behaviour.
.. Misusing
a legal term doesn't lend validity to nonsense claims.
<grin> Pot? kettle? Black?
.. not idle tongue waggle.
Now please tell us what physical stalking has taken place and how
you know about it including police case numbers and jurisdiction.
Otherwise this is just another unfounded claim.
You witnessed a case right here with tacit approval.
Without providing a direct answer you here acknowledge that your
earlier comment was an outright lie since no physical stalking has
happened.
When one posts to usenet one licenses all comers to respond with their
coments. I think *some* excellent arguments have been made regarding Uncle
Al's conduct and the way he conducts business. He has failed to reply to
them in a cogent fashion. The fact that you consider those exchanges where
Al eventually tucked tail and ran despite your stated opinions about his
superiority in every way and in every realm clearly positions you as a
volunteer apologist.
If you're complaining that Al's public comments were forwarded to the
PRC physics team conducting the chiral Eotvos experiment then you
ignore what "public statements" means.
And you completely ignore what the effects of this event are,
and will be. Nobody will ever talk about their work here.
You all have ensured that. This whole exercise of you people
is part of ensuring that everybody will be dumbed down.
That's not to say that in Uncle Al's case I wouldn't be surprised
if it were true.
What, no comment to this?
I have plenty of comments to everything you are writing.
I am picking the ones that are most important for the lurkers
who want to learn.
Are you in love with Uncle Al?
I am assuming that this is a sexist question meant to imply
that the only possible reason that I can admire Uncle is
due to a base sexual attraction. Does this make you feel
superior to Uncle?
1) While it is often said that the best defense is a good offense this
evasionary reply of yours doesn't qualify because it is so transparent.
It is supposed to be clear.
2) Any time one assumes facts not in evidence one is making a major
mistake.
3) The question is the consequence of observing someone who is so very
clearly an apologist in the face of damning evidence that love would
at least present some excuse where no other reason is evident.
No, you are an amateur where it comes to cowing females. Yours is
a ploy commonly used. You have to prove me in love because
that is the only way that you can show that you are right about
Uncle.
4) Any truly mature person understands that while lower intelligence
humans universally confuse sex and love
Which you did. Furthermore you tried to use this as a sledge
hammer and are now surprised that the hammer bounced back onto
your head.
.the two can be, and sometimes
are, mutually exclusive. That's not to say that in your case they
don't combine, but that's not a fact in evidence (as yet, but you've

5) Every human has their own set of attributes. Uncle Al doubtless has
some superior to mine, and there's just no question in my mind that I
have some superior to his. Your "superiority" question smacks of
testestorone poisoning.
It sure does. You've been suffering from it throughout this
whole sorry buiness.
..Do you write all your own material?
Yes.
Based on all the above, along with a significant number of other
comments you've made in recent months, I have come to hold the opinion
that you must indeed be in love with Uncle Al. What that means to me
compared to what that means to you is not important.
Since you are the one who goes on and on and on about this speculation,
it is obvious that the notion means a lot to you. To me it's
very boring. I am discussing this aspect for the lurkers who
aren't experienced enough to recognize your verbal trap and
subsequent face-facing attempts.
Not that any of this matters to anyone other than you, and perhaps
Uncle Al. But it sure explains the unwarranted awe. I'm glad we have
been able to clear this up. Thanks for participating.
<snort> Yup. The goal was to boost your superiority.
I suggest you stop before the hole you just dug swallows you
up.
As far as being sexist goes you would do well to put your house in order
before you accuse others.
I wasn't accusing. I was stating an observation. You are the
one who brought this subject up and you are the one who slanted
the answer.
..The women I hang around with really get angry
whem someone like you, who claims to participate in life on equal terms
with everyone else,
I have never claimed this. So this is another error of yours.
..plays the stalking card the moment that the going
gets a little rough. Another version of crying wolf we really don't need
because it tends to desensitize folks who need to keep their guard up for
those times when the real dangers accompanying an actual physical stalking
do come along.
I saw two examples of physical stalking; both have a serious
potential danger.
In the meantime, please study objective and subjective.
Just to keep things in perspective, I think the chiral Eotvos experiment
proposed by Uncle Al should be run and someday will be run.
It is. You're just not getting told about it. After the way
you and your ilk treated the hypothesis, you never will be
told about it.
.. I think it
will result in a null output. I detest loopholes. But IMO the reason
no one is going to run it for some time is Uncle Al. For now he and
the experiment seem to have been informally blacklisted. That's what

Uncle Al are the only ones surprised. Is that brilliant?
You are making a lot of conclusions based on no data.
