Roll Out the Old Blue Jet |
Once upon a time it all depended on the jet angle. When you were
looking straight down the jet, it was a quasar, and at other angles a
blazar or a BL Lac object. Remember that old theory? Now discredited,
thank goodness.
And yet some astronomers are not ashamed to trundle it out once again,
adapted this time to "explain" GRBs.
Quasars disdained the "blue boost" crap. They were bright enough to
stand up without such crutches, in all their resplendance.
May the GRBs in their turn give those wimp theorists "the jet" too.

'bout time they revived caloric, too!
Quasar radiation is thermal-disk-squinch generated.
Gravitational-generated, very efficient, approaches E=mc^2 efficiency
towards center. Doesn't NEED blue-boosted-JETS theory of yesteryear to
explain it. Which is wrong anyway, as we can the glowing disks and
jets SEPARATELY in some case now.
One day -- and, my God, I look forward to that day! -- we will resolve
GRBs too.
