Too right. I've been posting here since '99, always as Androcles, nearly
always with a physics content, and yes, I insult those that insult me
(either directly or by arrogantly imagining that can teach me
something), but the reason I do not display an alternative name is that
some trolls do post only to insult and some are actually stalkers.

Thank you, and a pleasure to here, I was starting to feel ganged up on. ;-)
I could post using a real sounding name and they would never know the
difference, I think my way is actually the more honest way.
I mean, how do I know Paul is his real name?
I only posted my opinion here, and posted it as an opinion. I have never
claimed to be an expert, I'm just someone who finds geology fascinating. Of
course, I doubt the naysayers are even posting from the geology newsgroup,
the trouble when threads are cross posted.
Most of the geology group regulars are decent people who respect others
opinions even if they disagree with them.

Better than you, or we wouldn't be having this discussion

:I was around when JFK was assainated, where was Paul then?

You weren't 'around', either, since there was no computer network for
you to be 'around' on.

I see, to you the entire world exists inside the Internet, no wonder you
make no sense.
My first computer was made by Texas Instruments, it had 8K of RAM and was
expandable to 16K. There was no floppy drive, you wrote the programs
yourself to do what you wanted them to do. It had a save to cassette feature
but it never worked, I'd save my work but it would never reload,so I started
writing my programs down to make them easier to re-enter. Very few were over
ten to twenty lines long, basic stuff like 10: if fill in the blank then
fill in the blank
20 run, etc.
I took a hiatus from computers for awhile, my next one had a 5.25 Floppy,
you loaded DOS into it off the floppy everytime you turned it on. My
favorite program was the Bank Street Writer, I still have version 3 of it on
floppy, but no computer that can run it anymore, 5.25 floppy drives are a
bit hard to find now.
I watched Neil Armstrong land on the moon, then went outside and looked up
at it, and was filled with awe to know that soemwhere up there, as I
watched, a man was walking on it's surface.
I've been around, long before the Internet was ever imagined. Believe what
you want, I imagine I'm old enough to be your father. Although I'm still
single and childless, my sister is a Grandmother with several grandchildren
already, from all three of her kids.
I've watched the climate long enough to know, dispite what the alarmists
say, 30 years from now we will still be getting along just fine, and they
will still be predicting disaster.
Take it however you like, I'm though with you as well. I won't read any
further posts from you after this session.

No doubt you were on the grassy knoll....

:Paul is not in any group I read, he is crossposting into my group. Here
he
:is the troll.

The preceding makes zero sense.

I have posted my opinion as it relates to the topic of the thread. His only
reason to post was to insult me. That is the action of a troll.
If that makes zero sense to you, it is because you lack the mental ability
to understand.

Your nonsense is nonsense wherever it is posted, including the newsgroup
in which I am reading it, where I have been a poster since it was created
(and, on sci.space before that, back into the early 1980s.) As far as
I can tell, you have never done anything in this newsgroup but post your

Where I stating it as a proven fact I would indeed agree that my real

Correct. What you miss is that EVERYONE ELSE also has that right and
they also have the right to decide just how much weight to give to
your opinion. Many people give it damned little weight when posted
from hiding behind a pseudonym.

No, the problem is that you want them to consider your opinion. Many
give it little consideration when you are posting from behind a
pseudonym. The problem is yours.

I didn't miss that at all, my area of dispute is that posting under a
pseudonym automatically makes one a troll, it does not, there are numerous
respected posters who post only under pseudonyms.
I could care less if they respect my opinion, only when they try to stop me
from expressing it.

They want me to accept their opinions in direct cotradiction to large
amounts of evidence. If I told them my real name, address, phone number,
date of birth, education, etc, they still would not respect me or my
opinions one but more than they do now, I know, I tried it your way for
years, my first usenet post was in February 1997. Using my real name never
made one bit of difference, people believe WHAT they want to believe,
regardless of WHO says it, and discount everything they don't want to
believe.
This way, at least when some brain dead moron decides he doesn't like me, I
don't care, because he doesn't know who I am.
In groups with intelligent, well informed, courteous posters, like Sci Astro
Amateur, I use my real names.
Frankly, the majority of posters in your little group are certifiably nuts.

Seems to describe you to a "T", we both share the same views but you are so
fixated on my name you can't see the issue being discussed.
Come back when you clear your head of hate and can read beyond the name.

What is the significance of having a name. Does that make th opinion any
more sound? There are very good reasons for maintaining some degree of
anonymity on usenet..

But by far the most common reason is that the poster is a troll who is too
embarassed to own up to the ***** they spout.

You have made a study of this?

Yes, I've been reading usenet for a number of years.

There is a difference between amount of snow and temperature. Lots of
snow
does not contradict global warming. It's just one place and one week.
The
overall average temperature could still go up.

This was the first year since record keeping began in 1870 that Indianapolis
made it through the entire year without reaching 90F even once. ;-)

And still managed to average 1 F above normal for the year.
