Science Radio |
Am trying to get bbc and others to start a science radio. With
most jobs now connected to science and us busy people having no time
for tv , why not a 24hr science radio where the latest news items ,
lectures on scientific topics etc. are broadcast ?

A radio is easier to listen to as one can do it in the car or
while doing the internet . It should be more popular science
discussing belief issues , and only a few hours of hard core science
for credibility.
Watching Islamic channel Skuy 836 one is struck how devious
these Islamists are . A 'Dr Zakir Naik' claims that the Quran was the
first to show the movement of the sun at a time when recently
scientists thought it was 'still' .. The verse says 'we have appointed
the sun and the moon to run in their orbits and never to meet (except
on Judgement day). Well of course non existent cruel Allah or rather
the self proclaimed Prophet who never learnt to read or write would
say that because he could see the sun moving! So even a scientifically
wrong verse has been turned into a proof of the quran.
Quran also says that the bone forms before the flesh which is
nonsense . The muscles are formed first and some of them condense into
bone later .
Of course the Bible is verse . Non existent God says that ' we
created the heaven and earth and day and night on the first day' but
the sun was created on the third day , so how could there be a night
when the sun wasnt creaed. Further the plants were created on the
second day , so what would they feed on if the sun wasnt created till
the third and each of God's days was an epoch long ?

Because there is no market for it, if there were it would already
be done.
The science shows on cable TV get zilch ratings.

Who will you have doing the lyrics?
Got some decent back-up musicians?
You have *got* to make it attractive to the people whom you are trying
to reach - presumably those 98% of the population who *don't* know
science.
Without video, you can only make the *sounds* sexy...
*Most* jobs now are *not* science related - 'retail sales' is the most
populated job description in the US now - that's what puts the 'busy'
in 'busyness'.

Because nobody would listen. Because there is no money is to be
made. Because there are no talking heads with the training to make
any sense out of such breaking news. Because science is not a circus
sideshow with three scheduled seatings/day. Because you are an idiot
wog.
Radio is dead. Newspapers are dead. Hell, TV is dead and it has
Paris Hilton eating a burger while mostly nekkid. Idiot wog.

Habshi, I like some of your stuff and get annoyed by errors in almost
all of it but your ok. However, dont you read all the science web
pages? I really do not see enough to fill full time station without
going into such detail as to make sleeping pills obsolete.
Maybe you should start a science blog. Most of em I see I do not like
and you do seem to have a gift for writing, just get somebody to proof
read your stuff..

Sure but in your neck of the woods, not mine, *****.
Open your fucking horizons. The measly "cassette tape"

Fantastic idea! Perhaps 24 hours a day of Dr. Science?

habshi--
Ever been to a party with science guys--after the sugar high from all
the Pepsi has worn off things go south pretty quickly. I suspect a
similair outcome for your science radio program--once the GR and
Newtonian barfing was over, the show would be dead. There might be a
slim chance for success if you could hire Uncle Al and say the Silver
Bullet to host together--a Hanity and Colmbs sort of thing uncensored.

Not if you add alcoholic drinks to the party. And a few
attractive female feminist students from arts. Oh
boy...

It would die out as Al dies out. I guess you're aware
that our age group was the first and is the last one of
usenet type. There's no young blood coming in.

Perhaps I was speeding a bit--but the "attractive female feminist" you
speak of is at the party looking for what??
NOTE: The following question was taken from a Liberal Arts multiple
choice test:
If an "attractive" female feminist was found at a university party for
science students, we would assume she would be there looking for:
a. A date
b. A brilliant man to wed
c. Free booze
d. "c" above
Maleki, have a nice weekend my friend. ;-))

Correct answer is,
e. A chance to get argued to bed, same evening.
I'm talking from experience on that. Feminists, the
attractive ones anyway, have an extra need compared to
other women. They're rethinking a lot of things anyone
takes for granted, and always appreciate help in
finding the correct answers and perspectives. Help from
men for them are rare, because most men themselves are
too dumb/distracted to know anything, and nowhere else
in a university is this help more likely than among
science students.
And you always get a piece of ***** after helping them.
Always :-)

I have a simple solution, I will feed the Usenet sci.groups through the
voice systhesizer here.
We can have a satellite radio channel for each sci... group.
Uncle Al will finally be famous.
I have the setup, I can do it now.
The sound of the synthesizer takes a bit to get used to, but for the rest

are really good, naturally speaking solutions.
