Scientific American article on successful "collective activity" |
As can be seen,
the Scientific American article quoted below,
confirms what most folks already know, that
"punishers must dominate to sustain the success of a collective activity."
No activity or enterprise can succeed
when the lazy, counter-productive, criminal and sociopathic
are permitted to run wild.
It is obvious.that more folks must take a stand against the sociopaths.
if the Internet is to succeed as a "collective activity".
At this point in time,
the sociopaths and bigots run wild
and even control the free expression of
opinions, ideas, and information.
It will be interesting to see if the Internet
will become a useful and positive "collective activity",
or if it will go the way of Citizen's Band radio.
So far it appears that the bigots and sociopaths are winning.
http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?articleid=788CF452-E7F2-99DF-3EBC599C3A9F1C6F
"Hauert and co-author Karl Sigmund, a mathematician at the International
Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Laxenburg, Austria, devised a
mathematical model that determines how groups fare when collaborating on an
activity. They reasoned that within any such community, there would be three
types of individuals: cooperators, who do their fair share and are rewarded
for their effort; defectors, who beg off but still benefit from the others'
work; and punishers, who penalize the defectors.
After running multiple versions of their algorithm, with different variables
adjusted in each trial, the researchers discovered that the punishers must
dominate to sustain the success of a collective activity. But, ironically,
they discovered that the effort-be it cutting carbon emissions or hunting
bison-must be voluntary if punishers are to rule the roost."

I love your logic.

Thanks for registering as a bigot Archie.
Speaking of "fruitcakes", as can be seen,
Archie hangs out in the *** Granola Newsgroup ***
with the likes of Art Deco, Bob Officer, etc.
alt.usenet.kook is called the *** Granola Newsgroup ***
because what ain't fruits and nuts, are flakes.
Here's a video one of Archie's buddies in alt.usenet.kook:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XA5MlMpuAvg&NR=1
Question?
Is Archie's buddy,
1. A Fruit
2. A Nut
3. A Flake
4. All of the above
5. None of the above

So far it appears that the bigots and sociopaths are winning.
I guess the issue is who is to be appointed punisher. If you are self-
appointing to that role, then the "collective activity" would serve
itself well by finding a way to remove you from that, or for that
matter any other, role.

As can be seen from his post, PD seems to think that
Art Deco, Bob Officer and their buddies in alt.kook
are best suited to be the "appointed punishers"
to insure the success of Internet as a "collective activity".
Now I suggest that folks who are interested in
the success of Internet as a "collective activity",
should Google a few of the posts by
PD's anonymous buddies and see if they think
that PD's buddies are qualified to be the censors of the Internet.
