Slaughter The Sacred Cow of Unitarity! |
Time to slaughter the Sacred Cow of Unitarity upon which the False Idol
of Signal Locality rests. One must do it Kosher however! Goodbye secure
untappable quantum cryptography - a false hope? Who says you can't clone
a quantum? Sure, if the theory is linear and unitary you can't.
Consider bosons for simplicity.
The eigenvalues of the first reduced density matrices are the Born
probabilities for "sub-quantum heat death" (A. Valentini). Indeed Lenny
Susskind needs them to be < 1, but when there is ODLRO, i.e. spontaneous
broken ground state symmetry there is an eigenvalue >> 1 - Bye bye
Unitarity - a false idea in the most interesting cases.
B = (hG/c^3)^1/2d(Golstone Phase of Higgs Field)
violates unitarity and permits gravity and inertia to emerge.

In the space of theories, orthodox QM corresponds to the extremum where
ODLRO = 0. Is that a stable point or not?

The key is "signal nonlocality" as in Stapp's paper & in Valentini's
papers that all violate orthodox "quantum mechanics" the way general
relativity violates special relativity. The slightest nonlinearity in
Hilbert space (as in a mean field model) will permit signal nonlocality.
Note that nonlinear terms in creation and destruction operators like in
Vkk'ak*ak'*akak' in the Hamiltonian is NOT what I mean here. An example
of what I mean will be the semi-phenomenological Landau-Ginzburg
equation for a local macro-quantum ODLRO order parameter - where a
low-lying reduced density matrix has a macroscopic eigenvalue >> 1
(violation of UNITARITY). Indeed the Born probability interpretation
breaks down completely in the macro-quantum domain. It continues to hold
only for the "normal" excitations in the macro-quantum coherent
dynamical background (two fluid model).
