SR clocks v. real clocks |
Trivia question for all budding SRians:
The Earth spins on its axis once each day.
To a person viewing the Earth from an inertial frame of reference in
space, which clock runs slower, a clock at the north pole or one at
the equator? Why?

Apply Special Relativity and then a tiny tickle of General for the
1/298.257 perturbation squared. BTW, you must start by knowing the
difference between a solar and a sidereal day. Only one of the two is
pertinent here.

Would you be so kind as to post your professor's name and university
here so that we could be so kind as to tell him about your innovative
approach to not doing homework?
Makes no real difference to me, you are too stupid to have a future in
any hard science...

You know- this tactic *might* get you through the weekly homework.
But eventually you'll have a closed book exam, and you'll actually
need to have learned something.
