NURSE: "TERRI SCHIAVO CRIED WHEN TOLD
SHE WAS GOING TO DIE"
A nurse named Cheryl Ford who serves as
spokesperson for Schindlers' -- parents of Terri
Schiavo -- claimed today that when Schindler
attorney Barbara Weller told Terri they were going
to remove her feeding tube, "Terri began to cry and
tried to say 'I want to live..' Attorney Weller said she
had a difficult time calming Terri down."
Can it be true that the Schiavo woman actually tried
to speak? There are those who have testified that she
has uttered a number of words and phrases through
the years and with therapy would be able to speak
sentences. These are initial reports to Spirit Daily.
But we get it from Weller and a confirmation,
through an intermediary, from the Schlindler family;
Ford has called for volunteers to surround the
hospice.
Weller reportedly told the woman, "Terri, if you
would just say, 'I want to live' -- all of this will be
over."
According to pro-life activist Randall Terry, who
recounted the scene to radio host Sean Hannity,
Schiavo tried desperately to repeat Weller's words.
"'I waaaaannt . . .' Schiavo allegedly said, in a
prolonged yell that had police stationed nearby
running into her hospice room.
"She just started yelling, 'I waaaannt, I waaaannt,'"
Terry said, according to Weller's account.
At that point police ejected Weller, he said.

Terri Wept?
Hello,
Actually she more than "wept"; she screamed. She
screamed so loudly the cops came running into her
room to see what was the matter:
Those who want to keep Mrs. Schiavo's body alive (her mind was gone as of 15
years ago), are just so far out-of-touch with reality now, not only in that it isn't
going to
happen, and how mercilessly cruel they are by wanting to do so, that no matter how
*serious* they might think they are being when the post things like the above, I
*REALLY* have just have to consider them as trolls now.
Here's a spiritual matter to consider:
If one believes in a soul, then Terri's soul left her body when her brain died 15 years
ago, all that is being kept "alive" is an empty shell that has nothing left in her. --
Or if her soul is still in her body, even though her mind is gone, then keeping her alive
in such a horrible physically state must be a form of hell for her soul.
Despite what her parents are saying, she can never recover. Her brain is physically
destroy. It can never be returned to what it once was; it is medically impossible. So
what do her parents and all those supporting them really want?

Why would Schindler's attorney be telling her they are going to remove
her feeding tube if they are talking to a vegatable?
It doesn't make any sense. Why would they even do that
unless she could understand?
It's all a lie. She knows they are killing her.

Even if you accept her parent's point of view, why would they deny Terri the
right to be with God and instead subject her to a terrible life in which she
can not communicate, follow people around the room with her eyes, control
bodily functions, eat, read, do anything?

Under that argument one must sustain life under any and all circumstances -
including those who are on life support, like Terri, who have expressed a wish
to not be that way, like Terri.
She is not experiencing the joy of being with Christ in heaven.

Because you say something is true does not make it so.

Terri Schiave was not on a ventillator or a defribillator. She was being
fed directly into her stomach as she cannot swallow. She has not been
able to swallow for nearly 15 years, so severe was the damage to her brain.

Aspirated frequently. If she could swallow should would not need to be
hydrated through a tube.

I'm not disputing that gavage is the most efficient way to provide food
and hydration to this woman just I wonder if it is the only way. If she
can be kept alive, for example, with regular squirts from a Nalgene
water bottle, is withholding that withholding life support in a manner
all that different from not giving a nipple or a milk bottle to a
new-born?

Not totally true since the autonomic reflex mechanisims still work.
Swallowing your saliva while you sleep is an autonomic reflex; drinking
even from a bottle would require awareness which she no longer has.

So have we got to the bottom of this? Does she swallow liquids that are
in her mouth? Would she swallow her own spit? Would she swallow water
given from a squirt bottle? I'm getting at the fact that we aren't
talking her about keeping someone alive by extraordinary means, but
rather by a means that should be considered bare minimum.

I'm not disputing that gavage is the most efficient way to provide food
and hydration to this woman just I wonder if it is the only way. If she
can be kept alive, for example, with regular squirts from a Nalgene
water bottle, is withholding that withholding life support in a manner
all that different from not giving a nipple or a milk bottle to a
new-born?
She cannot swallow.

If the swallowing reflex worked well, people wouldn't drool in their
sleep.
So which would be "extraordinary means", a person constantly sitting
beside her squirting small quantities of fluid in her mouth and checking
that the fluids are swallowed properly and don't either choke her or
drown her, or sticking in a tube?

So you drool in your sleep? That's something I didn't need to know.

Obviously the gavage is easier, but the point is what minimum
technological effort might be required. That's what I'm getting at.
While I knew that partisan political considerations have taken over
around here, there are serious issues involved in this case.
