Karl Popper: "On this basis we can argue that it would be a highly
improbable coincidence if a theory like Einstein's could correctly
predict very precise measurements not predicted by its predecessors
unless there is 'some truth' in it."
So is the frequency shift factor 1+phi/c^2 which is a corollary of
Newton's principle of variability of the speed of light (the c+v
principle). The factor contradicts Einstein's principle of constancy of
the speed of light (the c principle) but nevertheless zombies believe
that Einstein's theory correctly predicts it. The measurement was
performed under a tower in 1960 and since then convulsionaries in
Einstein's cult have had a new hymn:
The frequency shift he gave in defiance
was neatly confirmed under the tower.
Oh Einstein, oh Albert, oh giant of science,
oh creature divine with an infinite power.

Einstein's General Relativity contains so many equations including one
for Newton's gravitational potential that it arguably could hit one
prediction on the nose by "accident". It reminds me of the Birthday
Problem in mathematics in which it turns out that under rather general
conditions a surprising number of people in a typical classroom have
birthdays on the same date because of the nature of combinatorics or
probability or both.
A better question that Popper might have asked is: Why are there so few
precise predictions like the Mercury perihelion shift from Einstein's
theory? Everybody is entitled to one "Masterpiece", even Ingenious
Imitators. Creative Geniuses tend to produce much more than one
"Masterpiece" or one "super-precise prediction".
