The Fatal Chapter 22 in Einstein's "Relativity" |
Recently Einstein's zombies have made a great discovery: the English
translation of Einstein's "Relativity" is misleading and in Chapter 22
it is in fact the speed of light (the scalar), not the velocity (the
vector), that "varies with position". This means that, initially, the
photon has a speed c=300000 km/s with respect to the light source but
then the gravitational field gradually increases or decreases this
initial speed. For instance, if the top of a tower emits light towards
the ground, the speed of the light will "vary with position" and a
receiver on the ground will measure it to be greater than c (the
measuring procedure can be based on determining the frequency shift
factor 1+phi/c^2).
Now zombies are ready to apply the equivalence principle, that is, to
replace the tower with an initially at rest and then accelerating
rocket where the front end emits light towards the back end at the
initial moment. They will find that an observer at the back end
measures the speed of light to be c+v, where v is the speed of the
observer with respect to the initial (rest) frame (
http://www.wbabin.net/valev/valev3.htm ).
Finally, zombies will have to remember Einstein's words:
"If the speed of light is the least bit affected by the speed of the
light source, then my whole theory of relativity and theory of gravity
is false."

We already knew that Pentcho Valev does not know
the differences between
- speed and velocity,
- relativity and disguised ether addiction,
- kneeling down and bending over,
- local and global,
- a sycophant in English and in French,
- massive and massless particles,
- a real poncho and a Sears poncho,
- implication and equivalence,
- inertial and non-inertial,
- group velocity and phase velocity,
- science and religion
and now Pentcho Valev has demonstrated that he does
not know the difference between
- an article and a book

I see from the reference that the name of of the zombie
who found "that an observer at the back end measures
the speed of light to be c+v" is Pentcho Valev.

Getting one's ears lowered as I just have (a haircut) is a far simpler
statement of the Principle of Relativity that the ordinary man in the
street understands more than the scruffy idiot's claim that it is an
approximation to the first order of small quantities, believed by
an ignorant tusselad claiming to be an assistant professor with his
head up his arse where the barber refuses to go.

Yes, but can you learn about zombies by studying physics?

What does the speed of the source have to do with the existence of a
gravitational fields between source and receiver? 1905 SR was about
electromagnetism, not about the effects of gravitation. LET also
ignored gravitational efects.
Once Einstein was ready to deal with the problem of the accelerated
reference frame and gravitation, he needed a new theory (GR) which
reduced to the old theory (SR) in regions of space far from material
objects with gravitational fields (flat spacetime). There is no
fatality here.
