Hi All,
I've written before about my homeless homegirl Duckie,
the 18 year old who is, at 5'2" and 82 lbs, an anorexic junkie...
I talked to her mother in Tampa for a very long time, exchaning numbers, etc.
Duckie was there at the time,
so she might be afraid of me now, as I might get her re_committed.
All her bags are here in my room again.
Yesterday morning I escorted another very young anorexic junkie, Katelyn,
back to her horrifying squat where she was soundly ignored/ridiculed
by most everyone there, no one would even let her in.
Massively drunk on Seroquel, she didn't want to go back to my place,
as we had just met only a few hours previously.
I bitched at her a lot, asking her why she took so much Seroquel.
25 mg knocks a grown man on his *****.. she took 600 mg.
She even pissed outside because she couldn't get in.
I just left her there, sitting outside, with some dude lustfully ogling her.
I guess she was safe, as there were several other, older people around.
By the way, if I had wanted to take advantage of her sexually
it would've been as easy as hell,
she was lying with me in my bed at one point, drunker than hell.
She was sober when she first joined me in bed though,
only taking the Seroquel after that.
What the ***** ? ! Was she hoping I would seduce her ?
Seductions and drugs are related, I think, and I'm not into either one.
As I said before, if I were to date, I'd pick a fatty over a psychotic anyday,
the mind matters much more than the body, I say.
Since then, I've enjoyed almost 24 hours with no homeless people in sight.
But I've had many of them stay with me, off and on, always different people.
They like to stay free, I guess,
or maybe they just can't handle long_term relationships.
Are they insane or geniuses, enjoying the moment ?
I honestly don't know... could they be both ? !
They're costing me a lot of money and stress,
but they certainly liven up my day, making life a bit more interesting.
Am I addicted to the addicted ?
By the way, the objective of the money and status game is this:
To be favored by the favored.

And I couldn't care less.

Title: What did you do today, Bjarnason ? 23 Sep 2005 07:51:54 PM
Hi Kelsey_Bjarnason, I said I didn't seek to become favored by the favored,
and you replied:
Which is good, because from appearances, you aren't favoured
- in fact, you're mostly a laughingstock - pretty much everywhere.
I was favored by you, obviously, as you replied to me... not that I care.
Getting back to my original post about Duckie...
I tried to get her cash/food/medical assitance today so she wouldn't
have to squat in rooms filled with the criminally insane, heroin, crack,
trash and obscene graffiti.
What did you do today, Bjarnason ?
Unfortunately, she ran out of the welfare office at the last minute,
because she was sure they'd lock her away in a mental hospital... again.
Yes, she's been confined to mental hospitals a number of times, she said.
Does anyone besides me find it ironic that
the parnoid can't get benefits because they're too paranoid to apply ?
Does anyone besides me find it disturbing that a tiny 18 year old girl
has to live like that... stealing, taking street drugs from horny guys,
squatting in squalor and digging through the trash ?

I tried to get her cash/food/medical assitance today so she wouldn't
have to squat in rooms filled with the criminally insane, heroin,
crack, trash and obscene graffiti.

What did you do today, Bjarnason ?

Unfortunately, she ran out of the welfare office at the last minute,
because she was sure they'd lock her away in a mental hospital...
again. Yes, she's been confined to mental hospitals a number of times,
she said.

Does anyone besides me find it ironic that the parnoid can't get
benefits because they're too paranoid to apply ?

As the matter of fact, this is something I was pondering about not all
too long ago, as I know someone who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia
and is too paranoid to seek out help.
It's really very sad.

Does anyone besides me find it disturbing that a tiny 18 year old girl
has to live like that... stealing, taking street drugs from horny
guys, squatting in squalor and digging through the trash ?

Yes, I find it disturbing. Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away, I
was homeless too for a very short while, along with my girlfriend at
that time. I was not by far as in-deep as the circumstances you are
referring to, and in fact, even though I was homeless, I was a lot
better off than what you describe.
Still, it makes you see the world through a totally different set of
eyes. And I mean that in more than one way!
First of all, you're beginning to see it through the eyes of the weaker,
the less fortunate, the abandoned, the hungry, in their dirty clothes
and with their weary hair.
Secondly, you begin seeing things that you've never seen before, and
those things are not hallucinations. They are very real, but hidden
from the eyes of the greater masses by the media, who like to present
the world as a nice and shiny, goodie-two-shoes world.
This is the very reason why goodie-two-shoes people disgust me. It's a
subconscious thing. I can't help it.
I'm not wearing a hat - it wouldn't look very well with one due to my
long hair ;-) - but if I were, I'd be taking my hat off for you, Jeff.
You're a courageous man, as I know all too well that the kind of thing
you do is actually a Sisyphus chore, and that it can get you as a
person into loads of trouble as well.
You could be at risk of being charged of sexual abuse of those under-age
girls who are under the influence of drugs, or you could fall victim to
violence in accidental encounters with their drugdealers, etc.
Hats off, man...!

Title: The Artful_Dodger in Oliver_Twist. 24 Sep 2005 02:40:12 PM
Hi Aragorn, You said so_called normal people often bother you...
I noticed that myself recently, maybe because psychotics are more interesting.
When my Duckie steals with her cut_finger gloves
she reminds me of the Artful_Dodger in Oliver_Twist... endearing me to her.
You told me:
You're a courageous man, as I know all too well that
the kind of thing you do is actually a Sisyphus chore,
and that it can get you as a person into loads of trouble as well.
You could be at risk of being charged of sexual abuse
of those under-age girls who are under the influence of drugs,
or you could fall victim to violence in accidental encounters
with their drugdealers, etc.
Hats off, man...!
Drug dealers aren't nearly as bad as most people think,
some of them actually care about those who can't function well in society.
Also, as I've said before, I'm not into drugs myself,
and I don't seduce girls even when they ask for it.
One must be quite desperate to want to be seduced, I imagine.
By the way, I can tell that you're a very smart person,
so I hope I can dissuade you from using KNode.
In some kind of a war against crossposting, I assume,
KNode intentionally fucks up crossposted replies.
e.g. I saw your reply in Sci.Physics but not Comp.OS.Linux.Advocacy.
I'd tell you to use the newsreader I wrote, called X,
which you can find at my website, Cotse.NET/users/jeffrelf/,
but it's designed to run inside MicroSoft Visual Studio 2003, with VBA macros.
Reading your post on how you killfile:
news:oI8Ze.3257$ks1.108651@phobos.telenet-ops.be
Plonkers just alienate themselves, I see no point in it.
At the very least, I suggest you not killfile direct replies to you,
i.e. make an exception for direct replies.
Better yet,
use my X newsreader which simply puts all posts in one huge .TXT file
and then use Visual_Studio's fantastic searching tools to skip the crap.
You quote Message_IDs like this: <7u4Ze.3116$EV2@phobos.telenet-ops.be>
but Google and Outlook recognize only this format:
news:oI8Ze.3257$ks1.108651@phobos.telenet-ops.be
Also, you start off your posts like this:
On Saturday 24 September 2005 04:13, Glenn stood up and spoke the
following words to the masses in /comp.os.linux.advocacy...:/
Just writing _Hi__Glenn_ is much cleaner, I've found,
as it has less noise/spam, and the entry point is clearer.
Seeing your post, news:mb5Ze.3135$cm4.157835@phobos.telenet-ops.be
and reading about Asperger's Syndrome at Wiki_Pedia:
http://en.WikiPedia.ORG/wiki/Asperger's_syndrome#Social_impairments
I'm compelled to give you this hint with regards to how people think:
None has genuine choices, physical processes determine absoultly everthing.
Randomess is naught but incomplete information, ever virtual, never real.

The objective of the game of Fame_and_Fortune is this:

To be favored by the favored.

But that's external to you, out of your control.
In fact, nothing of any significance is under your control.
None avoids death in the long_run, and none chose to be born,
and all any ever did was burn bright, like a star, dissipating into the night.
Detachment is the secret to happiness/nirvana, I maintain,
i.e. accepting the losses that _Will_ come in the long_run.
After reading your post about Belgium, referenced above,
I'm wondering about the health of Belgians,
what with them eating so much meat, dairy, chocolate, French fries and waffles.
Food abuse is similar to drug abuse, I've found,
as both are done out of sheer boredom.
That said, I find it's better to abuse the body than the mind,
as a psychotic is much more fucked_up than a fattie.
P.S. This long reply of mine to you prompted me to start ranking posts
by the number of lines of replies it got, not just the number of replies.
So here's my new analysis of Comp.OS.Linux.Advocacy,
showing the 24 articles with the biggest replies, in terms of lines.

Title: Re: The Artful_Dodger in Oliver_Twist. 24 Sep 2005 07:46:05 PM
On Saturday 24 September 2005 21:40, Jeff_Relf stood up and spoke the
following words to the masses in /comp.os.linux.advocacy...:/

Hi Aragorn, You said so_called normal people often bother you...

Well, I was actually referring to what I call "the goodie-two-shoes
people", i.e. hypocrites and overly self-satisfied people.

I noticed that myself recently, maybe because psychotics are more
interesting. When my Duckie steals with her cut_finger gloves
she reminds me of the Artful_Dodger in Oliver_Twist... endearing me to
her.

Hmmm... The names ring a bell but I'm afraid that I've never read
Oliver Twist or that my memory must be very rusty otherwise... ;-)
<snip>

By the way, I can tell that you're a very smart person,
so I hope I can dissuade you from using KNode.

Nope, you can't. ;-) I love my /KNode./ ;-)

In some kind of a war against crossposting, I assume,
KNode intentionally fucks up crossposted replies.
e.g. I saw your reply in Sci.Physics but not Comp.OS.Linux.Advocacy.

Then I'm afraid the matter lies in with the mirroring of the newsfeed to
the server you are using. I get that often myself.
For what it's worth, the post you are now replying to does show up here
on C.O.L.A. on my newsserver.

I'd tell you to use the newsreader I wrote, called X,
which you can find at my website, Cotse.NET/users/jeffrelf/,
but it's designed to run inside MicroSoft Visual Studio 2003, with VBA
macros.

.... which kind of already places it outside of my scope, doesn't it? No
disrespect intended, of course. :-)

Reading your post on how you killfile:

news:oI8Ze.3257$ks1.108651@phobos.telenet-ops.be

Plonkers just alienate themselves, I see no point in it.

What about peace of mind? I certainly don't feel alienated as I am
strict about my /plonking/ policy, and so I only /plonk/ people whose
posts I am quite convinced I won't be missing out on.

At the very least, I suggest you not killfile direct replies to you,
i.e. make an exception for direct replies.

If I were to do that, then this would result in endless flamewars, as
was the case before I ever decided to /plonk/ the first person ever,
which was of course the one referred to in the message ID above.
The thread would have gone on forever because the above person has a
compulsion to be the one who has the last say in the matter, while I
have a compulsion to refute the lies spread about me.

Better yet, use my X newsreader which simply puts all posts in one
huge .TXT file and then use Visual_Studio's fantastic searching tools
to skip the crap.

Thanks, but I think I'll pass, for reasons mentioned earlier. Nothing
personal, just my preferences and my holding on to my principles. :-)

You quote Message_IDs like this:
<7u4Ze.3116$EV2@phobos.telenet-ops.be> but Google and Outlook
recognize only this format:

news:oI8Ze.3257$ks1.108651@phobos.telenet-ops.be

This would then be the fault of both Google and Outlook, since the
format I post message ID's in is th same, except for the word "news:"
in front of the ID and except for the included "<" and ">" brackets,
which were sort of plumply copy/pasted using the mouse.

Hmm... So you don't like my style? :-/ Still, I am not the only one
with such a personalized greeting, and I've been doing it for years
already...
I find that it adds a touch of lightness to the reply, a bit of humor
even.

Seeing your post, news:mb5Ze.3135$cm4.157835@phobos.telenet-ops.be
and reading about Asperger's Syndrome at Wiki_Pedia:

http://en.WikiPedia.ORG/wiki/Asperger's_syndrome#Social_impairments

I'm compelled to give you this hint with regards to how people think:

None has genuine choices, physical processes determine absoultly
everthing. Randomess is naught but incomplete information, ever
virtual, never real.

The objective of the game of Fame_and_Fortune is this:

To be favored by the favored.

But that's external to you, out of your control.
In fact, nothing of any significance is under your control.

I'm aware of that, but I don't seek to be favored by the favored. I'm
more of a sidearm for the underdog, usually. :-)

None avoids death in the long_run, and none chose to be born,
and all any ever did was burn bright, like a star, dissipating into
the night.

Detachment is the secret to happiness/nirvana, I maintain,
i.e. accepting the losses that _Will_ come in the long_run.

Hmm... I disagree. Some things are simply too valuable to detach from,
even if they are in the past. Additionally, I happen to be very
sentimental... :-)

After reading your post about Belgium, referenced above,
I'm wondering about the health of Belgians,
what with them eating so much meat, dairy, chocolate, French fries and
waffles.

Well, from what I've read in the news on more than one occasion, it
would appear that we live healthier than the American citizens,
although I wouldn't exactly call my current lifestyle healthy.
Too much fastfood, and too much indulging in chocolate and related
products at (nearly every) negatively emotional state.

Food abuse is similar to drug abuse, I've found,
as both are done out of sheer boredom.

Hmm... Boredom has nothing to do with it for me personally, though.

That said, I find it's better to abuse the body than the mind,
as a psychotic is much more fucked_up than a fattie.

I agree on that.

P.S. This long reply of mine to you prompted me to start ranking posts
by the number of lines of replies it got, not just the number of
replies.

So here's my new analysis of Comp.OS.Linux.Advocacy,
showing the 24 articles with the biggest replies, in terms of lines.

There is absolutely no reasonable case for Linux on the desktop.

I'll stay away from the debating at this stage. I'm sure you can tell
that I've already had plenty of that today. ;-)

Hi Aragorn, You faulted Google and Outlook for requiring the news: prefix
in front of Message_IDs....
But how could Google know it was a Message_ID without that prefix ?
Why not just add the prefix ?
You won't use MicroSoft_Visual_Studio's editor out of principle ?
What principle is that, might I ask ?
I hope it's not about using only open_sourced code,
I've spent my entire life coding for a living,

That I can do, and I was going to as well for future references. ;-)

You won't use MicroSoft_Visual_Studio's editor out of principle ?
What principle is that, might I ask ?

First of all, it would require me to install another operating system on
this machine than the one I'm using. ;-)
Even a dual-boot with any other operating system than the one I am
currently using is totally out of the question, considering that this
machine needs to be up 24/7 and will only be rebooted for hardware

We have a compulsive drive to expose the truth. This does not mean that
we have a compulsive drive to come out of a debate as the one who is
right.
That's a totally different thing, and more attributable to the person
currently attempting to discredit me, and anyone who doesn't agree with
him.

Hi Aragorn, Referring to the bandwidth and MP3s I'm stealing,
You asked me:
You know that what you're doing is illegal, don't you ?
That's breaking and entry in an IT context.
Yeah, I commit multiple felonies everyday that way.
It's just that I can't afford the broadband any other way right now.
My victim has 4 Mbps down... I never dent his download capacity.
I limit my uploads to .1 Mbps, and I've noticed that he amost never uses
the .36 Mbps that he has available to him.
Speaking of stealing...
My Duckie shoplifted again today, while I was buying some stuff.
She gave all kinds of excuses when I called her on it.
I told her she _Will_ get caught and do jail time.
Speaking of my young homegirl...
I think I'm convincing her to at least get food stamps.
She says some guy gave her a job and she hopes to rent a room in my house.
She burned dinner pretty badly tonight... funny girl.
She's also calling my Black housemates niggers,
telling them that all Black people are nasty... not so funny girl.
You said your machine:

My Duckie shoplifted again today, while I was buying some stuff.

Is there any way you can have her admitted to some institute where she
can do a cold turkey or something? Where they can monitor her
condition?

Speaking of my young homegirl...

I think I'm convincing her to at least get food stamps.
She says some guy gave her a job and she hopes to rent a room in my

Prejudices exist everywhere... Maybe you should tell her the tale of
how the white man came and took away the land and the buffalo from the
native Americans? ;-)

You said your machine:

...needs to be up 24/7
and will only be rebooted for hardware maintenance or a kernel
upgrade.

Why is that, is it running your website ? Where is your website ?

We do have a website for our organization - an IRC network - which is
currently under construction though. However, that website is not
running off of my computer. It's hosted elsewhere, as I strictly
spoken don't have a static IP address towards the Internet - although
in practice, it's quite static - and I have to live up to the quota
imposed on me by my Internet provider.
You can find our website at http://www.chatfactory.net. I designed the
opening graphic and the logo, but the site was built by one of the
other guys.
There's even a picture of me there - albeit without the trimmed beard
I usually have - at this URL:
http://www.chatfactory.net/site/index.php?categoryid=3&p17_sectionid=2
I'm the longhaired bum with the green guitar. ;-) The guy to the left
of me - also wielding a guitar - is the guy who put most of the site
together. He's currently working on a totally new version of the site.
The old one hasn't been maintained in ages anyway due to personal
problems for all of us and a change in the composition of our team.
This machine here stays up 24/7 because it is the server for my LAN and
at the same time it's my main workstation. It checks and downloads my
e-mail every 5 minutes or so as well, and it has me on-line at our IRC
network 24/7, with short interrupts because of a connection break that
last longer than the ping timeout.
Additionally, most people treat a computer like just another appliance,
which is why most people settle with Windows on their machines. My
machine runs Gnu/Linux and comprises of server-grade hardware. This is
not a machine you switch on and off just like that. Gnu/Linux also
does lots of things overnight, like rotating the logs, updating the
file location database, etc.
Besides, what wears hard disks out the most of all - and it's not that
good for the motherboard, CPU and RAM either - is stopping them and
starting them again. IDE hard disks are not meant to be up for more
than 8 hours per day, but mine are SCSI disks, and they are meant for
such uptimes.
When you boot up your computer, a power peak surges through your entire
system, and during the boot process, the temperature of the components
increases rapidly because the system is very busy loading stuff into
memory and initializing hardware.
A computer that's on 24/7 on the other hand has an almost constant load
and temperature, which is as computers like it. This box is very happy
just running all the time, and its hardware was designed for that
purpose. :-)

You mentioned:

I'm a Free & Open Source Software advocate,
and I'm opposed to proprietary, closed-source code.

I'm for good object code. I use cracks, as you might've guessed.
Who cares if the source code is available or not ?

Cracks are illegal and of poor quality. Besides, I support the cause of
freedom that FOSS stands for. For myself, this means that I can
configure, tweak and compile the source code for my own hardware
without having to use something that's generically compiled for the
widest range of compatibility.
Apart from my personal benefit from it, FOSS means that we have the
freedom to share code and improve on it.
With FOSS, you won't _have_ to get cracks. You'll have perfectly legal
and professional-grade software at your fingertips, and in most cases,
it's perfectly free as in "free beer" as well. ;-)
Please pay a visit to this address...
http//www.gnu.org
.... and allow yourself a new outlook on freedom. ;-)

Duckie went to church, as the Niggas say here... for rent money... ha ha.
You asked me:

Where they can monitor her condition ?

Yeah, it's called jail... and she'll be there soon, no doubt.
She recently turned 18 and just finished doing one and a half years
confined to an ultra right_wing girl's home in Jay Florida, not to mention
the mental institutions she's been confined to off and on over the years.

Hi Aragorn, a.k.a. Frank or Seraph,

I haven't been using the nick /Seraph/ anymore in a long time, Jeff...

The stars were bright last night, cold, and my homegirl
switched into nothing but a mini_skirt and bra under her long fur
coat. Duckie went to church, as the Niggas say here... for rent
money... ha ha.

You asked me:

She recently turned 18 and just finished doing one and a half years
confined to an ultra right_wing girl's home in Jay Florida, not to
mention the mental institutions she's been confined to off and on over
the years.

Then apparently she hasn't begotten the guidance that she needs, or she
wouldn't fall back into her old and wrong routines...

She doesn't like to talk about it, but she's been stripping and
hooking since age 14.

This is sad... :-/

Speaking of Duckie's prejudices against her customers, Blacks,
you asked me:

Maybe you should tell her the tale of how the white man came
and took away the land and the buffalo from the native Americans ?
;-)

Take a look at a relief map of the world... Mountians = People.

I'm not all too proud of being white or being a westerner. The
so-called Free West has nothing to do with freedom, but all the more
with exploitation.

Speaking of Chat_Factory.NET and these pictures of you and your team:

http://www.ChatFactory.NET/site/plugins/p17_image_gallery/images/3.jpg

http://www.ChatFactory.NET/site/index.php?categoryid=3&p17_sectionid=2

Geez, I'm old enough to be your cranky_ass dad.

Don't be too sure of that. People tell me all the time that I look at
least ten years younger than I am. Even the big guy with the beard on
the bottom row is one year younger than I am. ;-)

I used IRC back in 1989-91, before I switched to Usenet.
Sex was a big theme back then, as I recall... and it was printable.

I'm not sure what you mean by that last remark. On the other hand, we
try to keep our network clean of warez, illegal downloads and porn.
And we're doing a good job at that too.
It costs us a great deal of users, but if people only connect to an IRC
network in order to download cracks of software, mp3's or porn, then
they're not there to socialize anyway and then we don't need those
users.
CF is the cleanest IRC network in the world. It may be small but we
don't have delusions of grandeur and we're proud of its innocence. We
had to fight hard to guard what we had and to get where we are now.

You said, I think, that you keep your computer running all the time
so that you can be interupted by emails and chat.

Hmm... You kind of have it twisted, but basically, that's one of the
many reasons, yes.

You also said it was easier on your SCSI disks....

Well, that's a Catch 22 situation really. Having your computer on 24/7
is easier on *all* hard disks, but IDE disks are simply not meant for
such long uptimes. Their spindles and head movement mechanics are of a
lower quality than with SCSI.

That's cool, you've got something like a suped_up phone there.

Well, it's a lot more than that. It's my main workstation _and_ my LAN
server.

I know that I like breaks, so I assume that my computer does too,
so I give it plenty of rest.

This rest you give it will all be undone again at every cold boot the
machine has to go through, Jeff. Trust me, I know.
There's a lot less inertia to overcome if the system is left up and
running at a constant temperature and with constant spindle velocities.

Now playing: http://www.Cotse.NET/users/jeffrelf/_It_Dont_Matter_.WMA

You told me: Cracks are illegal and of poor quality.

Most cracks are just password-like thingies,
some modify .EXEs or the registry... nothing is degraded.

An /.exe/ file is a binary file. Editing those can yield some strange
results... ;-)
Either way, it's illegal, and totally unnecessary, when there is so much
professional software out there for free.

You said you like open source_code because:

For myself, this means that
I can configure, tweak and compile the source code for my own
hardware without having to use something that's generically compiled

First of all, I don't like Windows. I prefer a UNIX-style operating
system. Secondly, if I were to write a driver - which I'm not capable
of ;-) - for Windows, then I would have to sign a non-disclosure
agreement with Microsoft, which I'm certainly not prepared to do.
Gnu/Linux is free - both as in "freedom" and as in "free beer" and *is*
there for everyone to enjoy. It's the most democratic operating system
available. You should really look into it some day, Jeff... ;-)

Hi Aragorn, Chat_Factory.NET has real vision, I commend you.
Perhaps it's my slackerhood or advanced age, but Usenet is my game now,
chatting is too fast_paced, too urgent for me.
I mentioned that I like to keep my PC turned off and you replied:
This rest you give it will all be undone again at every cold boot the
machine has to go through, Jeff. Trust me, I know.
There's a lot less inertia to overcome if the system is left up and
running at a constant temperature and with constant spindle velocities.
Heat kills, and a turned_off computer is simply cooler.
Besides, my PCs gets outdated long before they break down.
I've been using hard_disks daily since the start of 1982,
starting with the Lilith, a forerunner to Apple_Macs,
and never have I had a hard_disk failure.
I said most cracks are just password-like thingies,
with a few that modify .EXEs or the registry, and you replied:
An /.exe/ file is a binary file.
Editing those can yield some strange results... ;-)
I haven't any strange_results from modified .EXEs.
You then added:
Either way, it's illegal, and totally unnecessary,
when there is so much professional software out there for free.

I just use the best code I can find, I don't care if it needs a crack or not.
I owe much child_support,
so I'm permanently bankrupt, under the strongest of liens,
and I've become immune to the RIAA and other such copyright enforcers.
F.Y.I., the 1986 U.S. law commonly known as the Bradley Amendment
automatically triggers a non_expiring lien when child support becomes past-due:

I don't write drivers anymore, but I could, and without lawyers, thank God.
Hmm... maybe that's why I don't need Linux while you do.
Switching topics, I spoke of the many institutions Duckie has been confined to
over the years, and now she'll likely wind up in jail before too long,
and you replied:
Then apparently she hasn't begotten the guidance that she needs,
or she wouldn't fall back into her old and wrong routines...
What the... You mean not counting the years in rehab and mental hospitals ?
I predict that she'll spend her entire life as a homeless, suicidal junkie,
in and out of jails, rehab and hospitals.
I can't help her, she prefers my homeless/addicted/dealer friends over me.
Perhaps I should stop giving homeless people so many handouts,
but I like giving without getting back.
She'll probably get HIV and hepatitis_C before too long,
and die some years after that,
....assuming she doesn't over_dose or jump off a bridge first.
She does drugs because they're free, just like her rent and food are free,
and because life is simply too boring for her without them.
She can't engage in any activity that requires long_term thinking.
Duckie wants to live/die fast... that's just how society made her.
None avoids death in the long_run, and none chose to be born,
and all any ever did was burn bright, like a star, dissipating into the night.
Detachment is the secret to happiness/nirvana,
i.e. accepting the losses that _Will_ come in the long_run.
You commented:
The so-called Free West has nothing to do with freedom,
but all the more with exploitation.
Freedom is a lot like randomness, it's naught but incomplete information,
ever virtual, never real.

All code is becoming distributed.
Having 'licenses' for 'running code' on a workstation is idiotic and
unnecessary.
The meat of the code will be accessed by http and tcp somewhere else.
Somewhere that people will have to pay to access.

FireFox is a .EXE, created using MicroSoft's Visual_Studio. Free.
Cute_FTP_Pro is a .EXE. Cracked.
WinMX and ShareAza are both EXEs. Free.
SSHTunnelClient and PuTTY are EXEs. Free.
My own newsreader, X, and other code I wrote are EXEs. Free.
RegEdit and MSConfig are EXEs. Part of Win_XP and paid for.
The driver for my MicroSoft Trackball Explorer is an EXE. Paid for.
MicroSoft Explorer, IE6 are EXEs. Part of Win_XP and paid for.
MicroSoft Word and Excel are EXEs. Cracked.
MicroSoft C++ and Visual Studio are sets of EXEs. Cracked.
CMD, the command prompt, is an EXE. Part of Win_XP and paid for.
Nero, the DVD and CD suite is a set of EXEs. Came with the burner, paid for.
MicroSoft_Paint is an EXE. Part of Win_XP and paid for.
AudioConverter is an EXE. Cracked.
The driver for my High_Gain Directional Wireless Adapter is an EXE. Paid for.
Perfect_Disk is an EXE. Cracked.
The list goes on and on... you get the picture.
I tend to pay for software only when it's bundled with hardware.
The world is far more then HTML... in fact, HTML is utter crap.
Switching topics...
I had to talk to the cops twice today,
once because my new neighbors freaked out when they saw me
breaking into Ken's room, Ken is a housemate of mine.
Ken had locked my phone in his room again and I was missing calls.
After talking to 4 angry cops I now insist that Ken return my phone promptly.
I wasn't charged with anything, and my record is as blank as blank can be.
The second was due to a fight between a housemate of mine
that we not_so_affectionately call The_House_Nazi
and a homeless guy named Marc that was staying with me.
I gave Marc over 40 bucks worth of stuff and free rent for two weeks,
while he recoved from a blader infection that left him incontinent.
Yes, I was paying a homeless drug dealer to ***** all over my room.
The Nazi got his ***** kicked of course, he was left humiliated and bloody
and some houshold items were broken... including a door.
Marc can now add Suspicion_of_Assault to his long record.
No one saw who swung first, but Marc was left unscathed,
so he's automatically guilty, I'm told.
The Nazi is probably terrified at this point, and he deserves it.
I told the cops Marc's real name, so now he's calling me a snitch... oh God.
I told him he should've just faced the cops instead of running.
Marc and the Nazi are both Black_Americans and, ahem, argumentative.
In retrospect, I should've saw this coming... oh well.
That's what I got for helping Ken and Marc.
I'm fairly sure that one of my housemates purchased Duckie's services,
....what a fucking day... I've got to start ignoring her like she ignores me.

Yes, the picture is that standard complete workstation apps have been
completely devalued. No one pays for them because they are worth that
little.
But the model that I proposed combines access to content coupled with
access to functionality that may be on both client and or server.

Title: Paid for internet services do not replace cracked EXEs. 28 Sep 2005 02:56:06 AM
Hi John_Bailo,
You think people will pay for internet services that replace cracked EXEs ?
Please give one example of an internet service that people pay for
that replaces a cracked EXE.
I buy hard _stuff_ on the internet, and EXEs are sometimes part of that.

I pay for Individual.NET, my NNTP server, at .83 USD per month,
and Cotse.NET, my virtual ISP, at 6 USD per month,
but they don't replace any EXEs, cracked or not.

Hi John_Bailo, You said Rhapsody was an example of
an internet service that people pay for that replaces a cracked EXE.
WinMX is a free EXE that's giving me all the free MP3s I want,
....there's nothing like it on the web, especially not Rhapsody.
Here's a song I downloaded today, Rehab's _Crazy_People_:

Hey you wanna get a 50 piece, nah ? Me neither.
You ever wanna kill a cop, nah ? Me neither.
Ever contemplated suicide, nah ? Me neither.
You ever wanna run through a mall
with an M16 yellin' kill 'em all, nah ? Me neither.
You ever wanna swerve into the oncoming lane leavin' nothin' but body parts,
wrecked cars and brains, nah ? Well, me neither.
World full of crazy people and I guess I'm one in the same.
And I tell you man it's evil, but I don't know no other game.
How did I get so dirty, you can see it on my face.
But I ain't killed nobody today, just yet, so ya'll better give me some praise.

And *he* is the one who dragged this Relf-cretin in here

Relf has only been posting about once every two days.

Well, I see no great harm in posting chaotic material to sci.physics.
It's become a useless scramble system already. Girlfriends named
Duckie, dogs named Dumplin, Global Brains, chop suey, ...who cares
anymore? In the words of one of the Earth's truly great living
philosophers: "Bring 'em on!!!!!"
