Hanson I dout jeff will ever see one .
I spent 300 days at sea for 20 years and saw 5 . doing 14 seconds top
to top is about normal.
40 seconds is posible if you ride with that 14 second wave .
mybe 2 hours is possible with 14 second waves.
1 out of 10,000 of the 14 second waves are 30 seconds . 30 seconds is
1 14 second waves coliding 1 in 10,000 .
1 in 100 trillion waves of 14 seconds will be 1000 seconds . 16 minutes
..
if you look out at the horisen with big eyes in 14 second swells evry
hour you will see a cap rolling for 3 minutes .
what hapends is swells can come to one point
like you slammed a bucket down all the water hit the sides then came
back at the sme time and hit the center from all directions .
All the water tryes to go strait up wile the entie top of the sea is
going 8 knots.
The top falls forward wile the wave resist the forward motion .
............. some of the largest waves in curents move backwards. have
you ever saw a wave going up a river go down river ?
The 220 foot long wave top to top would be 100 feet gainst the curent
..
100 feet top to top but the same amount of water unless it combines a
few waves as its shorter . Then it could have 20 times the water in a
100 foot top to top wave that forced the water up into a point.
The taller wave 100 foot top to top wount go the same speed as a 200
foot top to top.
the next few waves can distroy it or add to its mass . if the next few
14 second 200 foot top to top waves ram up a curent with a 100 foot
foot wave taller they might get in time with it once in a 100 billion
and add to its mass 20 times .
Thats 1500 feet long 130 feet high at 50 mph.
ive seen 5 in allot of years.
they went 30 miles.

Both TJ and Jeff still imagine ocean waves as these nice mathematical
sine waves marching coherently along the ocean surface.
He doesn't know yet - he has only seen the movie trailer so far. Ask him
after he has begged his parents to unlock him and let him go to the cinema.
The way TJ's delusions seem to work, he reads something and then
believes it is happening to him. We discuss Bill Gates, he just had
lunch
with Bill Gates. We discuss estimates of Paul McCartney's wealth, he
just heard the number personally from McCartney over fish and chips.
He comes across a description of a major ocean storm, and suddenly
he's posting from the middle of that storm. In this case, TJ must have
been surfing websites on wave statistics and ran across mention of
this record-setter:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,11069-1654539,00.html
According to this article, the previous record was 86 feet in 1972.
However, Kinsman's book mentions a ship which estimated a wave
to be 112 feet. My memory is that the ship was lost with all
hands, but Hyperphysics mentions an observation of 112 feet
by a ship which survived.

You're reading these sites and imagining nice sine waves
all lined up and moving along like physics experiments on
a piece of string. Perhaps you've even been to the beach
sometime in your life and you're extrapolating the regularity
of what you see there to what one would see on deep water.
You're dead wrong. You blew it.
But don't worry, Jeff still believes you, and he thinks the sea
is a bunch of clean sine waves all marching in the same direction
since you tell him so.

By the way, in reading whatever site you pulled these numbers

intensity of the waves (sea-state) and frequency distribution.
These really long "swell" waves are characteristic of well-developed
seas after the wind has been blowing some time. They
propagate far ahead of storm systems and are a good
indicator that a big blow is coming.

***** randy .
Your reading crap from some site .
You got my math dumbass now pull up a site with like math on it.
Most of the time when a storm hits there are no waves from the storm
and the waves dont go out ahead of the storm MORON.
The waves are NOT fast enouph to get ahead of the storm that made it
IDIOT.
Your well on your way to saying rogue waves dont exsist .
How far can a surfer ride swells randy ?
The swell is from 5 sec to 90 minutes.
a surfer can ride a wave 3 miles.

| Title: RMS_Queen_Elizabeth_2 surfing a 95 foot rogue wave. |
22 Nov 2006 12:36:06 AM |
|
|
Hi T.J., Re: Rogue waves like this:
DivineWindBook.COM/figures/images/image083.jpg
Wiki_Pedia says:
* RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 ( North Atlantic, 1995 ), 29 meters [ 95 feet ],
during bad weather in the North Atlantic.
The Master said it " came out of the darkness " and
" looked like the White Cliffs of Dover." [3]
Newspaper reports at the time described the cruise liner as
attempting to " surf " the near-vertical wave in order not to be sunk.
* In 1933 in the North Pacific, the Navy oiler USS Ramapo encountered
a huge wave. The crew triangulated its height at 112 feet (34 meters). [8]
* In 1942 while carying 15,000 American troops 700 miles from Scotland
during a gale, RMS Queen Mary was broadsided by a 28-meter wave and
nearly capsized. Queen Mary listed briefly about 52 degrees
before the ship slowly righted itself.
* In 1966, the Italian cruise ship Michelangelo was
steaming toward New York when
a giant wave tore a hole in its superstructure,
smashed heavy glass 80 feet ( 24 meters ) above the waterline, and
killed a crewman and two passengers. [8]
* The Wilstar, a Norwegian tanker, suffered structural damage from
a rogue wave in 1974. [8]
* In October 1977, the Stolt Surf ran into a rogue wave on
a voyage across the Pacific from Singapore to Portland, and
the engineer took photos of a wave higher than
the 22-meter bridge deck. [9]
* The six-year-old, 37,134-ton barge carrier MS München, lost at sea 1978.
At 3am on 12 December she sent out a garbled Mayday message from
the mid-Atlantic, but rescuers found only " a few bits of wreckage ".
This included an unlaunched lifeboat, stowed 20m above the water line,
which had one of its attachment pins
" twisted as though hit by an extreme force ".
The Maritime Court concluded that
" bad weather had caused an unusual event ".
It is thought that a large wave knocked out the ship's controls
( the bridge was sited forward ), causing the ship to
shift side-on to heavy seas, which eventually overwhelmed it.
Although more than one wave was probably involved,
this remains the most likely victim of a freak wave. [2]
* Draupner wave ( North Sea, 1995 ): first confirmed scientific evidence
* Bremen and Caledonian Star ( same wave, South Atlantic, 2001 )
Bridge windows on both ships smashed, 30 meters above sea level, and
all power and instrumentation lost. No adverse currents exist in
that part of the world to explain the wave.
The First Officer of the Caledonian Star stated it was
" just like a mountain, a wall of water coming against us. " [4]
* Naval Research Laboratory ocean-floor pressure sensors detected
a freak wave caused by Hurricane Ivan in the Gulf of Mexico, 2004.
The wave was around 27.7 meters high from peak to trough, and
around 200 meters long. [5]
* Norwegian Dawn, ( off the coast of Georgia, 16 April 2005 ): media report
" The sea had actually calmed down when the [ 21 meter ] wave
seemed to come out of thin air...
Our captain, who has 20 years on the job, said
he never saw anything like it. "
* Norwegian Spirit, ( off the coast of Tortola, January, 2006 )
* Aleutian Ballad ( Bering Sea, 2005 ):
from television show " Deadliest Catch ".
Several sources ( including those below )
repeat the claim that around 200 large ships have been sunk in recent years
by 'freak' waves. That claim is a myth.[10]
There are a tiny number of cases in recent years where
no obvious explanation has been found,
but according to the Lloyd's Register casualty database,
fire or poor maintenance are more likely causes.

Hi T.J., You wrote something like:

Yes, I'd move as fast as I could...
I've got to get out of this fish bowl ( rooming-house ) !
I called my landlord and told him the Puppy will be with me until
the 28th or 29th. He said ok, so long as no one ever sees it
and I pay him 80 dollars plus a written promise that it won't stay longer.
Does WestPort know who I am ? will they talk to me ?
I'll call them during working hours tomorrow, Wednesday;
but that's the day before Thanksgiving, so they might already be on holiday.
I can't wait to see what they have to say about Fearless_Johnny.
Amazingly... Patinha arrived at her mom's house in Florida today...
Her mom refuses the puppy but says she might change her mind next week.
Shipping a puppy is very complex... It might take weeks of preparation.
Patinha wants to go cold turkey ( off drugs )... enduring the pain;
but she's really high and really stressed right now.
I told her mom that the puppy would comfort her... she didn't agree.
Meanwhile... I have to drag a puppy with me everywhere I go;
so I'll have to take the bus to go see our yacht.

good.
I order us purple shirts like Bills.

It is interesting to see that several years ago,
on behalf of a paper company in China,
I tried to interest tj frazir in competing with Zhang Yin,
who has become China's richest woman,
with a fortune of about two billion dollars.
As can be seen from the news,
she plans to build a pulp-making plant
and put tj out of business.
Hanson will be interested to know that the lady
made her billions by recyling garbage.
She charters ship to transport garbage from America to China,
where people sort and recycle the paper,
and to some extent, the metals and other materials.
http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/11/07/bloomberg/sxpulp.php
"HONG KONG: Zhang Yin, China's richest woman, said Tuesday that her company,
Nine Dragons Paper Holdings, the country's largest maker of containerboards,
will invest in a pulp-making plant to be built within five years.
The company has 3 billion yuan, or $380 million, cash on hand that can be
used for expansion, including the pulp factory, Zhang, 49, said in Hong
Kong. She declined to elaborate on the details of the new plant like its
cost or location.
While "we plan to move upstream into pulp-making, our focus will continue to
be on recycling paper," Zhang said. The company will use some of the pulp to
make its own containerboards and sell some to rival paper makers, the Nine
Dragons chairwoman said."

I didn't know that "west coast marine LA"
had a dry dock.
Maybe I should have my nephew,
who used to be Del Webb's personal accountant
and an executive at Webb's Florida shipyard,
and who now is an executive
with a west coast ship yard,
get in touch with you.
He can probably get you
better storage, better service,
and maybe even a better price,
than you are now getting
from "west coast marine".
And, who knows, if you give him enough business,
maybe he'll outfit a ship for me gratis!

"HONG KONG: Zhang Yin, China's richest woman, said Tuesday that her
company, Nine Dragons Paper Holdings, the country's largest maker of
containerboards, will invest in a pulp-making plant to be built within
five years.
The company has 3 billion yuan, or $380 million, cash on hand that can be
used for expansion, including the pulp factory, Zhang, 49, said in Hong
Kong. She declined to elaborate on the details of the new plant like its
cost or location.
While "we plan to move upstream into pulp-making, our focus will continue
to be on recycling paper," Zhang said. The company will use some of the
pulp to make its own containerboards and sell some to rival paper makers,

I tend to lump recycling
into conservation and
protecting the environment.
Unfortunately tj did not make an "instant millionaire" out of me,
as the lady could buy garbage and recycle the paper,
about 30% cheaper than tj would sell his wood chips for.
BTW, I see that see the lady is worth over three billion dollars,
and rapidly getting richer. Note that she has about $500,000,000
cash available for building a pulp plant,
whereas almost all companies borrow money,
or sell more stock, when they make an investment.
Pretty soon, she'll be richer than tj,
and tj will be stuck with all of those trees.
The question is:
"What takes more energy,
cutting down, transporting,
and making trees into pulp,
or recycling paper?
And which is best for the environment?

Potter, like it or not. you, Tom and GW Bush, whom you hate
with a pissed passion have very much in common. Actually
Potter, you are a kind of a super Bush. Your grand agenda
is to better the world by exposing the war-for-profit instigating
Jews, whereas Presidents Bush I & II have more modest plans.
They want to better the world by nation-building and spreading
democracy.... ahahahaha... But apparently, Tom, the Jews
won't go away and no new nation has been built yet much less
any democratic ones... Sadly, Tom, the upshot of both of your
machinations just achieves the opposite:
== Bush and Potter
== make things rotter
Remember, Tom: "No good deed ever goes unpunished"
Clair Booth Luce, 1941

ahahahaha... yeah, "lump" anything you want and you
begin to sound and sing like a class 3 enviro, one of
those little green idiots... ahahaha... whining and whining
and helping the class 1 & 2 enviros to charge you with
ever more permit charges, user fees and enviro surtaxes
all "lumped" into ever higher prices for getting less & less
thru your love of "conservation" that really protects only the
"environment" = the wealth of the rich who are getting
richer on the back of the poor who are getting poorer,
whose own meager "lump"-sum is being recycled into
the coffers of the rich.... the rich who of course are into
protecting **their** environment... ahahaha... are you
becoming so stupid in your old age, not to see that,Tom?
[Tom]

"What takes more energy, cutting down, transporting,
and making trees into pulp, or recycling paper?"
[hanson]
Now you really sing like a fanatical class 3 enviro.... ahahaha..
It takes both, Tom. Every recycling event of paper degrades
the pulp fiber by 50%. So even after 2 recycling you end up
starting with an educt that yields a product that is suitable for
less and less uses and applications. --- Recycling has been
done since time immemorial, but it took the green shits and
the green turds under the cajoling of the hordes of little green
idiots to siphon graft from this ancient practice... enriching
themselves on the backs and at expense of the poor... thru
their ever increasing permit charges, user fees, enviro surtaxes
and now the looming carbon tax. --- Where have your morals
gone, Potter?... Did the greenies ***** you and you liked it
so much that you beg them for encores? Enviros are evil.
Enviros only care for the environment of their own wallets, Tom.
ONCE YOU yourself begin to check what YOU pay directly and
indirectly to the enviros... you'll begin to sing another tune...
Let me drive the point home to you so that you will see it clearly:
==== Do you like the "KOSHER TAX", Tom ? =====
Enviro taxes are modeled & collected like that Jewish con, Tom...
ahahahaha... ahahahaha... AHAHAHAHA....
[Tom]
And which is best for the environment?
[hanson]
..... ananana... only true green little idiots, the class 3 kind
can make your 1-liner out to be the departing question.
AHAHAHAHA... forgetting the most important thing, that
they, the people themselves are part of the environment
as well, but folks like you, the class 3 enviros, conveniently
overlook that and fanatically sing the green nL'Internationale,
their hymn and ode to the "environment"....
== it's green, green, green
== on the far side of the hill
== and when we pay the carbon tax
== life will be greener still
ahahahaha... thanks for the laughs you pinko-green enviro
AHAHAHA.... ahahahahanson
PS: for your benefit, Tom
------- The green Bible & its enviro Theology -------
= "It doesn't matter what is true ... it only matters what people
= believe is true ... -- Paul Watson, Greenpeace, and ......
= "A lot of environmental [sci/soc/pol] messages are simply not
= accurate. We use hype." -- Jerry Franklin, Ecologist, UoW, and...
= "We make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little
= mention of any doubts we may have [about] being honest."
= -- Stephen Schneider (Stanford prof. who first sought fame as
= a global cooler, but has now hit the big time as a global warmer)
----------- The Green Scam ---------------
Modern, attributal definitions of enviro classifications:
========= enviro Class (1) --- the Green *****(s):
....are the ones who advocate, promote, support, legalize,
institute and extort the permit charges, the user fees, the
enviro surtaxes and the CO2/Carbon tax, all reflected in
HIGHER PRICES of goods and services!, ...and being
responsible for much of the OUT-SOURCING!
========= enviro Class (2) -- the Green turd(s):
.... are the ones who are recipients and beneficiaries from
the lootings of (1), directly or indirectly.
========= enviro Class (3) -- the Little green idiot(s):
... are the unpaid, well-meaning ones who think they do
something for the "environment", when in fact they are only
the enablers and facilitators for (2) who are harvesting the
green $$$ that (1) has extorted.
---------- Views after 40 years of green criminality --------
=1= In June 05 USDA/FDA aired/published that they will
no longer endorse green products that are labeled "organic"!
=2= The FBI and Homeland Security/DHS has declared
enviros to be the number one terrorist threat to the nation.
=3= Myriads of good, rational & HARD WORKING folks had
enough from environmentalism and began to raise their voices
as did E. Gisin in news:d8j4df01n0o@enews1.newsguy.com...
wherein it sounds like this: "Fucking greens should be shot...."

is unable to differentiate between
honest commitment and rationalization.
It does not take a PhD in psychology
to understand that Bush waged war on Iraq
so that he, his family, his friends, and his backers
could steal and profit from Iraq's oil.
As Bush was unable to pull off this trillion dollar heist,
he is making a desperate effort to rationalize his criminal actions
so that he and his gang will not be tried for war crimes
after he is out of office.
It is interesting to take a look
at the evolution of Bush's rationalizations.
911
WMD
Yellow cake/Poison gas/Anthrax
Evil tyrant / World better off
Free the Iraqi people
Spread democracy
Face the facts.
The world would have been "better off"
if Bush had never become president.
And the world will be "better off"
when Bush is out of office.
And America will be "better off"
when Bush and his gang are turned over to
an International Court to be tried for their war crimes.
(As the world will begin to trust and respect America
as they did before Bush became president.)

Hi Tom_Potter, I don't agree with Bush at all.
But what will you do when you discover that the next president
is just as bad or worse then the current one ?
You see... it's not Bush, it's just the way the world is.
