Is there any indication that the Universe is affected by Rarity in
different scientific fields in a stimulus-response sense, other than
the data and theory accumulated by Probable Influence (PI) Theory?
Yes, there are two especially interesting indications: the psychology
of Salience and the accelerations of the Universe.
It turns out that in human psychology and arguably the psychology of
other animals, Salience is especially important for stimulating people
to pay attention, and Salience includes Novelty (Rare Events usually of
a special "new" type).
But could the Universe itself have an attention mechanism analogous to
Novelty or Salience that operates in stimulating accelerations? Well,
yes. In fact, although one might think of increasing attention as a
velocity increasing scenario where the "increase of attention in time"
is a velocity, it is arguably an acceleration of attention, especially
in its early stages. The Inflation scenario involves acceleration of
the Universe but also Rare Events of "new" type in the early Universe.
The more recent Acceleration will have to be studied a bit more before
definitive conclusions are made.
Of course, things start getting a bit suggestive of "quasi-life" or
"semi-life" here if the Universe not only has Attention but
Expansion-Contraction, Acceleration, Knowledge/Information, etc.
