Universe Expansion and Matter/Anti-Matter |
Since the Universe is deemed to be in expansion, and Matter has a
definate dominance over Anti-Matter revealed by many experimental
observations:http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2002/july24/babar2002-724.html
I was wondering if the Universe was to enter a contracting phase, would
the CPT be evident in its effect upon particles?
In a nutshell, is the fact that the Universe is in Expansion and Matter
dominant over Anti-Matter the effect of the cause, big-bang/expansion,
would "Anti-Matter be the dominant signiture in a Contracting Universe"?

Thanks for the links, being familiar with Ned's site, I am bemused as
to why you posted the links instead of answering the question?..maybe I
missed something in Ned's site, can you be specific in where my
question is answered, thanks again for the links.

One possible explanation is that there were equal amounts of
matter and anti matter formed in the big bang... equal, but
not exactly equal. We find that on average in the universe
there is about 1 proton and 200,000,000 photons per cubic
meter.
On could argue that there was an imbalance of matter and anti
matter of one part on 200,000,000. When the annihilation of
matter and anti matter took place in the very early universe
that left one proton for every 200,000,000 photons.
If there were enough matter and energy to reverse the cosmic
expansion, at what point in the future might antimatter occur
in large quantity?

Many thanks, I would be interested in the early Universe Proton-Photon
density?..is it likely that the number of Protons around the first
generation of Quarks and Leptons could constrain the Expansion rate? or
would this be a non starter do you think?
I am thinking about the late time "heat-death" scenario of our
Universe, with very few photons, thus..I want to know if this can be
catogorized as being still in expansion for our Universe (tail-end
transition of expanding vacuum relative to weak presence of matter,
light)..which then causes an Anihilation phase , obvious there a
preference for Anti-matter over the last remnant energy,(which is what
I speculate has to the Contraction, pre-bigbang) ?
I know that Einsteins field equations can be reversed in time, but they
still carry an "expanding" space factor, the reversed Einstein field
equations are NOT contracting, they are merely time ordered expansion
functions, thus our Universe (whilst it contains large quantities of
Matter) is never found to be contracting.
Thanks again for detailing specifics.

What exactly is the heat death of the universe and where can I find out more?

Einstein's GTR is just as valid for expanding and contracting universes.
