US's still hot for Indian students

Indraprasth - India or abroad, not only Indian tech pros
but technology students are in demand. Many US colleges
which offer cheaper technology courses are hot favourites
among Indians.
According to fresnobee.com, the percentage of Indian
students is the highest among foreign students studying
in the California State University, Fresno.
The number of Indian student has been rising steadily for
5 years.
Shalini Sundar, who chose to leave India told fresno.com,
"I hope to get a job here," Sundar said. "Most students
want to come to the United States. They are ambitious.
They can use it as a stepping stone. A better job awaits
you if you have a foreign education."
Thousands of students from India go to study computer
science or engineering at universities across the United
States. This is the second consecutive year, when the
United States got more students from India than from any
other nation.
Even as lots of Indians are returning to India, students
still dream of studying and then working in the US.
Experts and university veterans say that it's easier for
Indian students to adjust and thrive in America than
those from other countries. India's educational system
prepares them well, John Pluebell, liaison for the
committee on immigration practices at the National
Association of International Student Educators, told
fresnobee.com
Though some immigration reform experts say that foreign
students don't really help the economy, universities say
foreign students mean a rich source of money for them.
Institutions, in particular, are worried about losing
some students because of a new one-time $100 fee by the
Department of Homeland Security. The fee, starting in
September, will go toward covering the cost of
maintaining the Student and Exchange Visitor Information
System. After Sept. 11, 2001, foreign students were
subject to the system, which monitors and keeps up-to-
date information on their enrolment, visa status and
course of study.
"It will be seen as another barrier," Pluebell said of
the fee.
Some Indian students say the fee won't keep them from
coming.

"A hundred dollars won't make a difference. Yearly
expenses are $15,000 to $18,000. It won't keep students
from coming," Bhoi said.
But the new fee has forced some students to look towards
the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia as other
possibilities for higher education because of the tighter
security measures implemented in the US, Dr Arun C Vakil,
a US visa and immigration specialist in Mumbai said.

For the most part(not all his best thinking) Uncle Al calls it close to
realistic thought in this spacetime. He is smarter than most in this
news group. My ego tells me he has an IQ almost as good as mine.(much
better speller) His mother did not teach him to be nice. He does not
have a brain that is very creative(such as mine) He has the best parrot
brain in the world. He knows classic science. He saves me time going to

Better double-check before believing any of this.
Computer Sci freshman class is down 25% at UT,
because the jobs are not there anymore.
An Indian can get a degree in the US, but most likely
will have to go back to India to find a job now.

Indraprasth - India or abroad, not only Indian tech pros
but technology students are in demand. Many US colleges
which offer cheaper technology courses are hot favourites
among Indians.
According to fresnobee.com, the percentage of Indian
students is the highest among foreign students studying
in the California State University, Fresno.
The number of Indian student has been rising steadily for
5 years.
Shalini Sundar, who chose to leave India told fresno.com,
"I hope to get a job here," Sundar said. "Most students
want to come to the United States. They are ambitious.
They can use it as a stepping stone. A better job awaits
you if you have a foreign education."
Thousands of students from India go to study computer
science or engineering at universities across the United
States. This is the second consecutive year, when the
United States got more students from India than from any
other nation.
Even as lots of Indians are returning to India, students
still dream of studying and then working in the US.
Experts and university veterans say that it's easier for
Indian students to adjust and thrive in America than
those from other countries. India's educational system
prepares them well, John Pluebell, liaison for the
committee on immigration practices at the National
Association of International Student Educators, told

Though some immigration reform experts say that foreign
students don't really help the economy, universities say
foreign students mean a rich source of money for them.
Institutions, in particular, are worried about losing
some students because of a new one-time $100 fee by the
Department of Homeland Security. The fee, starting in
September, will go toward covering the cost of
maintaining the Student and Exchange Visitor Information
System. After Sept. 11, 2001, foreign students were
subject to the system, which monitors and keeps up-to-
date information on their enrolment, visa status and
course of study.
"It will be seen as another barrier," Pluebell said of
the fee.
Some Indian students say the fee won't keep them from
coming.

"A hundred dollars won't make a difference. Yearly
expenses are $15,000 to $18,000. It won't keep students
from coming," Bhoi said.
But the new fee has forced some students to look towards
the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia as other
possibilities for higher education because of the tighter
security measures implemented in the US, Dr Arun C Vakil,
a US visa and immigration specialist in Mumbai said.
