=?UTF-8?B?bW9pcsOp?= method to viualize deformations |
Hello,
i am not sure if chose the right newsgroups, so if i am wrong, sorry for
that. I have got the following questions:
In order to visualize the deformations of a goose-wing (just a model) in a
wind tunnel, I wanted to use the Moiré-effect. That means, I wanted to
project a raster (?) on the wing and compare it with a reference raster
afterwards to determine the deformations on certain positions. Before
beginning this experiment in the expensive windtunnel, i wanted to
improvise a little bit to get experienced. I thought of using a projector
for colorslides to create the raster at the wing. I will install a
reference raster and save the reflected light with a digital camera, hoping
to be able to see the Moiré effect. Do you think that can work out or is it
necessary to have a more powerfull light (laser)? How can I analyse the
pictures? Is there any software available or do I have to write own
programs? I would be glad for any hints, critics or other proposials to
measure those deformations.
Thanks in advance!

A Google search on
"photoelastic stress analysis",
might be of interest to you.
