VARIABLE SPEED OF LIGHT AND EINSTEIN'S CRIMINAL CULT |
The main concern of Einstein's hypnotists is to camouflage the fact
that the speed of light does depend on the speed of the light source
and therefore Einstein's theory (and modern physics in general) is just
a farce. The camouflage involves even simulated fights among
hypnotists:
http://chronicle.com/free/v49/i23/23a01401.htm
It is easy to see that hypnotists always discuss the idea of
variability of the speed of light in a way that has nothing to do with
Einstein's original definition of constancy (the speed of light is
independent of the speed of the light source). In fact, in 1911
Einstein showed that in a gravitational field the speed of light is
VARIABLE:
http://www.physlink.com/Education/AskExperts/ae13.cfm
"So, it is absolutely true that the speed of light is _not_ constant in
a gravitational field [which, by the equivalence principle, applies as
well to accelerating (non-inertial) frames of reference]. If this were
not so, there would be no bending of light by the gravitational field
of stars. One can do a simple Huyghens reconstruction of a wave front,
taking into account the different speed of advance of the wavefront at
different distances from the star (variation of speed of light), to
derive the deflection of the light by the star.
Indeed, this is exactly how Einstein did the calculation in:
"On the Influence of Gravitation on the Propagation of Light," Annalen
der Physik, 35, 1911.
which predated the full formal development of general relativity by
about four years. This paper is widely available in English. You can
find a copy beginning on page 99 of the Dover book "The Principle of
Relativity." You will find in section 3 of that paper, Einstein's
derivation of the (variable) speed of light in a gravitational
potential, eqn (3). The result is,
c' = c0 ( 1 + V / c2 )
where V is the gravitational potential relative to the point where the
speed of light c0 is measured."
By applying the equivalence principle one could easily convert
Einstein's formula into
c' = c + v
valid in the absence of a gravitational field, where c is the speed of
photons relative to the light source and v is the relative speed of the
light source and the observer. Then one could remember Einstein's
words:
"If the speed of light is the least bit affected by the speed of the
light source, then my whole theory of relativity and theory of gravity
is false."

The link refers to a João Magueijo, of which I know nothing, though
apparently he got a Royal Society 10-year fellowship. His basic
postulate is that 10^-30 cm^2 or 10^-60 cm^2 in size (the article is
very unclear on this point) "ballooned to a centimeter in 10^-40
second". Given lightspeed transit one might expect 3 * 10^-30 cm
in 10^-40 second, so that kinda works, in a way. However, it is far
from clear why this postulate would invalidate SR or GR, except
during that 10^-40 second.
Nor is it clear what one would replace SR or GR with. No, I'm not going
to buy the book. :-) In any event, it's far beyond my realm to
criticize; I'm no expert in subatomic physics though I know the basics
(U235 + neutron = bang; 4p => He2+ under *very* high temperatures and
pressures).
I see no fights here at present, although we'll see;
there might be a breakthrough in the offing but that
breakthrough must be at least compatible with SR or GR in
the conditions we currently know about and have measured,
though AQL1493 might give one momentary pause. (However,
a handful of paired neutron star systems show GR nicely.)

VSL cosmologies are sprinkled pretty well in arxiv. And it is
placing a bandaid over a sore that isn't. But leave it to "Ain't
so" Valev to stand on the stump and bark about it. And to
misunderstand / misrepresent it to boot...

That Magueijo ruminated crud of Guths' inflation is
simply a phantasm of plays with Plank domain units:
c = Planck distance / Plank time
(3E10 cm/sec = 1.62E-33 cm/5.4E-44sec)
which necessarily implies that the universe had initially
a whopping Planck mass size of 0.002 mg.
How come neither of them nor anybody else
asks themselves where their last **pound sized**
***** they took came from before they flushed it...
Mysterious universe indeed.... ahahahahahaha...
ahahaha... ahahahanson
