What would those effects be, I wonder?
One possibility is blowing away outer layers of the young sun
reducing its mass. The astrophysics group at Iowa State were
working (in the 80s) on solar mass loss ideas, but could never
come up with a plausible mechanism for the mass loss--I'll have
to see if I can find some papers they wrote.

The idea's been around a while as well, as at soft x-ray energies (< 1keV) the
x-ray background is dominated by local bremstrahhlung from hot gas in a local
bubble around 30+ pc's surrounding the sun believed to be from a local SN in
the past, and its also shown from a local HI deficit.

Is this the same one thought to be responsible for the injection of Al26
into the protoplanetary nebula? In some older models it was also the
cause of the shock leading to formation of the Sun as well as solar
nebula (timescale circa 10^6 yrs with the star itself forming much
faster after the initial shock). I don't know whether such models are
still held to be viable...
