I am not often very serious to this group, but I have good news sources.
What worries me today is that we are moving towards a 'public group
consciousness' that condemns scientific explanations, and wants to replace
this with religious belief.
Supported by the Pope, Dala lama or whatever... a twist is put on things,
maybe their last 'struggle for power', or maybe a 'turn around'.
If large masses (and Catholic church has many followers, and also other
spiritual leaders will start fighting science, then
WHEN WILL THE FIRST PUBLIC BURNING OF SCIENTISTS HAPPEN?
As to the motives of the religious leaders:
power, control, and the religious leaders speak for the multi nationals
that need soldiers.
Soldiers need not think or know anything except how to use that gun or
missile.
Over the ages military has used science to its advantage..... and gave
scientists a honorable position in society.
Some other every day technology did that too.
Will the religious leaders be able to nullify this?
Science failed in a big way several times, think missile system, war in
Iraq..
On one hand you'd think this is not possible.
But assuming a large WW3, nuclear, in the time after that scientists would
for sure be considered 'evil' (think planet of the apes).
Remember how Reagan talked about Russia as 'evil'.
When the MEDIA turn, start playing the plays of the religious leaders, then
the bear is lose so to speak, and when will the first scientists be burned...
And, as we know, the media is largely monolithic and under US control, and
the US under republican control, and the republicans under religious control.
Remember how they all prayed during that hurricane....
This could lead to 'dark ages' loss of scientific knowledge, thousands of
years later people digging things up 'hey they had cell phones in 2006!'.
Now 3090.
Where will it go, where?
We have been moving backwards with human space exploration ever since moon
trips stopped....
Apollo's were scrapped.
Will all university libraries be burned by the religious 'true believers'?
Little can stop a hord of bisons.
Will you have to be member of a church, like for example in VU university in
Amsterdam (they are Christians you know), to even study science, and then
of cause get their versions?
Maybe Darwin will be outlawed, and the possession of that material will
lead to public execution!
So, the solution?
I'd say do it to them before they do it to you, nuke the churches now.
eehh.
Would that work?
We can bring it to them as 'you will go to heaven earlier'.
Maybe they will buy.

The Bush Administration is already on record suppressing science
it doesn't like, if my understanding is correct -- basically, results
on human causes of global warming.
Supported by the Pope, Dala lama or whatever... a twist is put on things,
maybe their last 'struggle for power', or maybe a 'turn around'.
