Warped Passages & Macroscopic Hidden Dimensions |
Hi,
Who has read Lisa Randall 500 pages book called
Warped Passages: Unveilling the Universe's HIdden
Dimensions. Did she mention something new she didn't
talk about before. I don't know whether to get it as
I've quite a number of pop-sci books already (like "Fabric
of the Cosmos" and they may all be talking of the same
thing).
I'm interested in her hypothesis that the hidden dimensions
can be as big as our know dimensions. One may ask how
come the smoke rising from campfire doesn't disappear into
the other dimensions. The reason being that all normal matter
are trapped in this 3D brane. Only exotic matter can bleed
thru the macroscopic hidden dimensions.
This has explosive military applications. Imagine designing
a fighter jet with exotic matter that can vanish into the
macroscopi "hidden dimensions" and reappear suddenly in
Shanghai and unleasing 100 megatons of nuclear weapons.
Imagine doing this simultaneously to all launching sites. Now
you get the idea.
He who controls the Macroscopic Hidden Dimensions control
the planet.
It is not improbable that macroscopic hidden dimensions exist.
Can anyone give the url of the papers written by Lisa Randall
about this?

Lisa is rapidly becoming my physics hero. The current Scientific
American has a short article about her.
Homework problem for you... Tell me which two papers out of the 59 are
the most cited in current physics research? Hint: They are called RS1
and RS2 by other physicists.

Interesting. Anyway I found out they are
"A Large mass Hierarchy From a Small Extra Dimension" and "An
Alternative to Compactification". I think I'd get her book
and spend a couple of weeks with her stuff.
You know of people who can see a closed book by all pages being
opened in front of them in higher realm.. or people who were
trained to use higher dimensional senses to see all sides of a
square at the same time. This may mean some kind of uncompactified
extra dimensions must be at work. Also when a person in front of
you simply disappear into thin air. I don't think it's invisibility.
Somehow the body matter is transformed to exotic matter or the
hyper functions opened and extending to the extra dimensions which
appear to normal sight as invisible. A uncompactified model seem to
be more representative of reality.
Anyway. Thanks for the tips. I didn't know she was your hero...
wonder how dual spaces relates to higher dimensions.
I'd grab her book tom and see her thoughts on these.

Ahhhh... you must have the SciAM article. Well, it was an easy
problem. Read the papers on arxiv.org. Look at the refs and read some
of those also.

Your welcome. I said "rapidly becoming my physics hero". Not that she
is quite yet. Stay tuned for a few months and you will find out how DS
is related. New research paper finally started up.
