What is it about matter that slows light? |
If it is absorption and reemission then light doesn't really slow down
because there is no light left. The scientists are making a misnomer in
this case.
And if it isn't that atoms absorb and emit then it must be the light
interacting with the atomic forces.
If light really does slow down then how does it speed back up? How does
light accelerate upon exiting a medium?
I believe that light gets its motion from time and that they share the
same motion so to speak. The constancy of the speed of light applies to
time.
Light accelerates.

However, you are correct in that I erred in stating that O2
will give an engine 5x the horsepower. That is not correct
unless the engine has insufficient air in the first place.
In any event, your engine design has either one of the following flaws.
[1] Gasoline has 121 MJ/gallon or 45 MJ/kg. No amount of air will
get around that.
[2] You've not properly accounted for the preheating of the steam/O2
mixture prior to feeding it into the liquid piston engine.
Hmmm....naah, I won't bother, but were I to, I'd conceptually take
a vat of 100C water, convert it to high-pressure steam in a boiler,
bubble it through the 100C reservoir with some fuel, allowing said
fuel to burn, then let it push against a piston and condense back
into the reservoir.
Or something. Perhaps you can actually draw this somewhere on
a website?

Well, OK, you've now figured out how to boil water by injecting
O2 and fuel into hot water! Congratulations.
It won't help.
As for what makes the engine hot...that's rather obvious.
Why else would one need a water-based radiative cooling system
(except for some cars such as old VWs and some Porsches)?
Assuming a cast-iron block of 500 kg (or 8953 moles)
for simplicity, and a S^o of 27.3 J/K mol, one gets
~20 megaJoules to heat the block up to about the boiling
point of water (at which point the cooling system should
at least think about kicking in).
That's about 1/6th of a gallon of gas. Admittedly, the
piston will still get pushed down by the explosion while
the engine's cool -- just not quite as forcefully (though
I'm not sure the difference is detectable, and water-cooled
engines heat up fairly quickly anyway, if the thermostat is
working properly).
Engine weights are a bit hard to come by on the Web, though there
is mention of an 850 kg EcoRacer made by Volkswagen -- but that
850 kg is for the entire car. (The actual engine is a 1484cc
diesel producing 100 kW; 0-100 kph in 6.3 seconds.)

In short, a cold engine might generate more power, but
may need more fuel to do so. (The engine is construable
as the cold side in a Carnot cycle, so a hot engine would
indeed be less efficient from that standpoint. However,
Carnot assumed perfect mechanical work extraction from
the expansion.)

now, and electrically-driven everything. (Something along
the lines of "Microcosmic God", a short story by Theodore Sturgeon,

have been promising fusion power "20 years in the future" for
half a century now, though at least ITER shows promise.
We'll see in about 20 years. If we're *real* lucky the oil
will hold out until then.

its hard to understand the sum of its qualities .
2 cylinders 3 x 30 inches doing a 30 strokes each sending the volume
back and forth wile the inner cam wheel sides up for one side then down
for the other side.
the best part is adding o2 to the gas air mix .
all direct injection .

nateral gas is 14 bucks a 1000.
usa cant compete any more.

anyway , boath your car and lpe are using intake volume mixed with
gas.
the very same mix ratio but lpe uses o2 allso.
your car used 4000 inches of intake and the lpe used 600 inches to do
the same thing.
The water inside the lpe is the pistons and is the hydrolic fluid
driving the sliding vane hydrolic motor between the 2 cylinders.
its 2 water rockets driving a hydrolic motor .

vanes are in flush the inside cam wheel allmost hits them all.

the T director moves up an inch if the wheel does. the vane to director
clearance never changes , each vanes is spring loaded to stay in flush
..
the water piston on the left side sends its water threw the rotor to
the other side .
the other side will send it back .
its simple as *****. draw one .
the o2 makes it a strong running engine.
30 strokes per cylinder per minute.
2 cylinders with a rotor between .
if the rotor cant trun very fast because the load then you can slide
out 2 inches of vane and thats 850 psi x 2 1700 pound tourk at 20 rpm
rotor speed. no transmision is neaded.
reverse the cam to reverse the rotor.
its 500 psi cold and 850 hot because the steam from the water that is
450 deg F hot when in ballance .
wrap a coil up the cylinder and float a mag to allways know where the
water is .
You could biuld a basic whale 4 th engine easy.
a crude one would cost 1000 bucks but will save you a chunk.
IF I sent you one some rag head would blow you away or the Gov will.
Biuld one and no one neads to know.
the rotor is the hardest part.
my vanes slide out spring loaded on rollers .
but the rollers are not neaded unless you dont stop running for years.
whale 7 138 modle has been running for 5 years 24 7 . no sine of any
problem.
My 48 x 5 with 30 sq inch vane has been running this ib for 4 1/2
years.
2400 hp each set and 10 sets on a shaft inline but I only run what I
nead. all the thrust I want and then some .
Then I have experimental standing water rocket engines . no rotors in
those .
The water rockets can handle 2500 psi.
10 foot stroke 22 inch pipes.
The 48 rotors run 12 inch x 8 feet.
but the stroke lengths very depending on demand. how much vane slide out
vrs stroke volumes.

I, for one, am not laughing.
In 1990 I was paying just under a dollar a gallon for gasoline in Seattle,
now it's over 3 dollars... and, as you say, 4 dollars could be next.
I pay 250 USD per month for the tiny room I rent, utilities included.
I could easily see that going to 350, just to cover rising fuel costs.
The homeless people unofficially staying with me, Duckie and Ethen,
add to those fuel costs... no wonder my landlord is on my case so much.
No wonder there are so many homeless these days... it's a tech_bust.

Your car is 10 % fuel effective .
Add o2 and its 5 times stronger but still 10% effective.
IT starts up at 2 cycle gas engine without the steam 1/6 the fuel your
car used .
The water is the pistons so the water will boil .
When the water is 450 deg F then o2 without the gas will work but it
takes some heat out of the engine. So the steam and o2 and gas is
ballanced at 450 deg F .
Thats 2 cylinders 3x30 inch with a sliding vane rotor bewteen them .
60 rpm water pistons driving the sliding vane 1 square inch flat vane
blocking the flow 100 % at 500 rpm.
thats 500 psi at 12 inch R at 500 rpm.
48 hp off the top of my head.
600 inches of intake per minute.

I get 330-350 miles on my 1996 Saturn SL2 on 10 gallons of gas.
(The tank is 12.8 gallons but I can't say I remember ever

However, if my computations are correct, he might be able
to create an engine that can be about 3.5x as efficient
as the standard piston engine, but it cannot be 8x as
efficient.
(And that value drops if one considers such things as
tire friction/flexion. I don't know by how much.)
