Just wondering?
Ahem! Yours is not to wonder who or why.
For the record, I did. The rumors of my demise have been greatly
exagerated. Actually, I've finally decided to retire and Mr. Cain has been
serving as my part time assistant for some time. There are just a few
items to wrap up before I turn things completely over to him and make his
provisional appointment permanent.
The main issue has been who to appoint as his primary opponent. You know,
Satan, The Devil, The Dark One, etc., etc. The current appointee has
served well and with extreme devotion for nearly an eternity but has tired
of the game. My suggestion to Mr. Cain has been to appoint you, Mr.
Sokolich. You have all the prerequistes in terms of an evil, obsessive
nature but the question as far as Mr. Cain is concerned is one of
competence. He thinks you have shown unblemished intent but your track
record of accomplishment is weak in virtually all areas. I believe that
you could grow into the job and find deep satisfaction in all the havoc you
could create but Mr. Cain has his doubts. He thinks you will be all too
easily beaten and provide inadequate opposition to keep our side at its
peak performance.
If this position interests you, by all means feel free to expand upon your
qualifications. If not, think again.
Yours Truly,
God

Based on the current status of world affairs, both you and your part-time
assistant, Bob Cain, are miserable failures. Both of you should be
relieved of your responsibilities immediately and condemned to spend
eternity in hell as punishment for your gross ignorance, incompetence and
uncivilized behavior.
