I was no fan of JFK

was shocked and dismayed at the news.
I also wasn't too pleased when JFK
had a nuclear bomb exploded in space

America had in orbit.
Of course, good did come from this stupid action,
as JFK immediately realized that nuclear explosions
in space would render the military and commercial use
of space useless, and within weeks,
he signed a treaty with Russia
banning the use of nuclear weapons in space.
If America and Russia had competed
exploding atomic bombs in space,
there would be no GPS, no Google Earth,
no weather and geophysical satellites, etc.

No, just that along with many other Constitutional provisions,
there is a recognition that the impeachment and conviction
process may be too time consuming if the president has become
psychotic and paranoid, and can also unilaterally launch
nuclear weapons. As another example, the president no longer
needs for congress to declare war before he can start one,
again because of the time constraints created by technology.
I might add that shortly after JFK, and agreement was reached
between the US and the Soviet Union that no single person
should thereafter be capable of initiating a nuclear war.
While JFK and Khruschev could have done so, LBJ and Brezhnev,
and their successors could not.
So the bottom line is that individuals can still respect the
constitution, but not be willing to allow the world to be
destroyed to adhere to its finer points.

In your scenario none of us should be here now to discuss this as JFK
should have been so "crazy" he listened to his advisors and killed us
all during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October, 1962. One could
easily argue the war hawks may have stocked up on some of that
cortisone as well. JFK kept the world from destruction by not taking
the "advice" of these men and sought a peaceful conclusion. This
doesn't sound like a crazy man to me.
I might add that shortly after JFK, and agreement was reached
between the US and the Soviet Union that no single person
should thereafter be capable of initiating a nuclear war.
While JFK and Khruschev could have done so, LBJ and Brezhnev,
and their successors could not.
JFK would never have used this as he was one to get advice from all
concerned and he had his chance to use it during the Cuban Missile
Crisis and opted to reach a peaceful conclusion.
So the bottom line is that individuals can still respect the
constitution, but not be willing to allow the world to be
destroyed to adhere to its finer points.
Please, there is no proof of this based on JFK's actions as president
in serious situations. Calling traitors patriots is nothing but
smearing the American people.

You need to read further up on the thread. JFK's actions
meant nothing, because we know today that cortisone doesn't
make you psychotic and paranoid.
However, AT THE TIME, it was believed, both by the medical
community, and as was shown in a "chilling" plot device by
James Mason in a movie, that you *would*, invariably, go
both psychotic and paranoid if you took large amounts of
cortisone.
Hypothetically, their chain of logic would be something
like this: "Certainly we know the President is sane today,
judging from his behavior. But I talked to a doctor, and
he assured me that at any time, he could go mad, because
of the medicine he is taking."
In other words, even though Kennedy behaved rationally during
the Missile Crisis, if you knew that he had started taking
cortisone, you might think that he could go spontaneously
insane, with little or no warning.
Just sitting there at his desk, then suddenly say, "Aw, the
heck with it", and order a full scale nuclear attack.
They would be completely wrong. He wouldn't do that, as we
know today, because cortisone does not do that. But AT THE
TIME, they would have to consider what had to be done, since
they *thought* the President could go violently insane at
any time.
The clock was running, as far as they were concerned. And
though the Missile Crisis had been worked out, it had
heightened everybody's concerns about nuclear war. A lethal
combination of fear and wrong information that might have
cost JFK his life.

You need to read further up on the thread. JFK's actions

I got the point you were making, i.e., they thought he could become
psychotic.
However, AT THE TIME, it was believed, both by the medical
community, and as was shown in a "chilling" plot device by
James Mason in a movie, that you *would*, invariably, go
both psychotic and paranoid if you took large amounts of

Doesn't matter, as he was the duly elected president. I think you
need to read about many other presidents that had issues and were not
removed by assassination. Start with Wilson and you'll see his wife
was really the president the last year or so of his presidency.
Reagan was supposed to be senile after the assassination attempt and
he stayed on. No reason you can give should warrant murder. Elections
were less than a year away, they could have leaked their "suspicions"
to the media.
Hypothetically, their chain of logic would be something
like this: "Certainly we know the President is sane today,
judging from his behavior. But I talked to a doctor, and
he assured me that at any time, he could go mad, because
of the medicine he is taking."
Not their call to "theorize" and you agreeing with this is amazing.
We are a democratic country and we elect our officials and make
changes at the polls, not by the point of a gun. The young men and
women are dying for nothing to bring this same thing to Iraq if you
are saying it okay to kill a politician because they may become crazy.
In other words, even though Kennedy behaved rationally during
the Missile Crisis, if you knew that he had started taking
cortisone, you might think that he could go spontaneously
insane, with little or no warning.
I don't want to assume anything because we just "met", but your
comments would lead me to believe you have not read much about JFK
(and I could be wrong, if so sorry) as he was taking cortisone since
the late 40's so he was on it for a long time along with steroids.
These are what some doctors today say could have been making his back
worse as they promoted bone deficiancy and he had to wear a brace and
a wrap everyday. So the cortisone was not something new to him in his
presidency.
Just sitting there at his desk, then suddenly say, "Aw, the
heck with it", and order a full scale nuclear attack.
I would hope you are kidding.
They would be completely wrong. He wouldn't do that, as we
know today, because cortisone does not do that. But AT THE
TIME, they would have to consider what had to be done, since
they *thought* the President could go violently insane at
any time.
He couldn't as there was a person in charge of the "suitcase" and if
JFK called him to his office someone else would have known.
The clock was running, as far as they were concerned. And
though the Missile Crisis had been worked out, it had
heightened everybody's concerns about nuclear war. A lethal
combination of fear and wrong information that might have
cost JFK his life.
In my own humble opinion you are reading this backwards, as JFK wanted
peace and many others didn't. If any of this had anything to do with
his murder, I don't know, but to make JFK seem like a war hawk is
really doing him an injustice. Read his speech at American University
in June 1963. Kruschev called it the greatest speech by an American
president ever. Big praise.

I'll also note that while Kennedy began taking oral
cortisone in the 1940s, one of the first patients to do
so, he did not begin large doses of injected cortisone
until the late 1950s.
http://www.doctorzebra.com/prez/g35.htm
During the first six months of his presidency, Kennedy's
physicians "administered large doses of so many drugs that
[Dr. Janet] Travell kept a "Medicine Administration Record".
Many of the drugs Kennedy received affect thinking:
cortisone [injected]
Cortisol has profound psychological effects. At one extreme,
"steroid psychosis" can result. At the other, a profound
sensation of well-being can occur. In between, the effects
are more difficult to characterize.
cortisone [oral]
lomotil For diarrhea. Contains anti-cholinergic compounds,
which, in toxic doses, can make someone "mad as a hatter."
paregoric For diarrhea. Contains opium. Mentation is probably
unaffected if used in reasonable doses, but Kenndey was taking
at least 3 medications for diarrhea, suggesting that doses were
high.
phenobarbital A classic "downer"
testosterone Was Kennedy's "bull-like" libido a side effect
of testosterone? Was his cholesterol level of 410?
trasentine An anti-diarrhea medication. There is very little
published about this drug. Side effects include giddiness and
euphoria.
Tuinal A mixture of secobarbital and amobarbital Kennedy used to
help him sleep. Amobarbital is better known as Amytal, one of the
more common "truth serum" drugs.
amphetamines Post and Robins, writing in 1993, thought it was
"highly suggestive" that Kennedy took amphetamines while President,
but considered it unproven. The recent Atlantic article states
definitively that Kennedy received injections of amphetamines and
painkillers from "Dr. Feelgood," a.k.a. Max Jacobson. Kennedy
dismissed concerns about the injections, saying, "I don't care if
it's horse *****. It works." Jacobson's medical license was revoked
in 1975. Previously, in 1969, all controlled substances in his
possession were confiscated by the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous
Drugs. It is thought that Kennedy was under the influence of
amphetamines when he made his "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech.

Whether it was done solely out of fear, or out of political
ambition, or other reasons, all I've really tried to do is
give a rationale that might have been used.
It still boils down to a mistaken belief, a scary movie,
and a heightened sense of nuclear fear in the year following
the Cuban Missile Crisis.
There has to be a process to remove high officials quickly
if they represent a potentially imminent threat of starting
a nuclear war. Kennedy might have been unique in this regard.

3) At the time, large doses of cortisone were
incorrectly believed to cause psychosis and
clinical paranoia.
4) A popular movie "Bigger Than Life" (1956),
starring James Mason, depicted him as being driven
violently insane from taking cortisone:

If you add these simple facts together, combined
with the extreme nuclear war tension created by the
Cuban Missile Crisis, Oct 14-28, 1962, it becomes
obvious that anyone learning of the President's
condition and the surrounding above facts, would be
very concerned that the President might go violently
insane and start World War III.
This could have easily justified the assassination of
Kennedy, from any number of sources.

Are you a born *****, or simpy tyring to make yourself seem like
one?
You post like someone too young to remember even recent history.
Chances are that you were not evern born at the time of Hitler or FDR,
and you have no first hand knowledge of the JFK murder. My take is
that you are some sort of a 13 year-old kid posting on "Dad's" link,
and not far removed from the IPOD mentality.
Am I close in my guess?
If so, either the Army or the Marines could turn you into a man, with
some expended efforts.
Otherwise, if people like you allow this country to go in the
direction that is currently headed without serious support for the
principles upon which it is founded, you may want to prepare your soft
body for ulitimate torture. (Ultimate torture is roughly defined as
torture methods that lead to death.) Then too, maybe you like being
tortured by having a red-hot probe being shouved up your penis or
*****, or having fingers surgerically remove one at a time sans
anathesia...ouch!
Your lack of atention to the world of reality suggests strongly
that.... I'll simply let your figure the rest out for yourself.
Friend, if you cannot grasp history, you cannot ever protect
yourself. Most people realize this.

I was a 9-year-old thug-in-the-making, campaigning for some damned toy
robot about the size of a footstool for Xmess. I got it, much to the
dismay of the dog, whom I designated to be Lord Carnifuxulon, Scourge of

turning me into a lesbian, but much like watching Bill O'Reilly play the

Hey Walt, ever stop and think these ARE the lurkers that read this
newgroup and the reason their so disrespectful about JFK and posting
all this garbage is because it's what they've learned to do from the
CT's on this forum? Think about it, they've read everything from John
or Nellie shooting JFK to Zapruder being faked not just his film.
Shows you what the 80% of the American Public who believe in
conspiracy are made up of, doesn't it???? NOT very impressive!
