Object: WHY THE CONSTANT SPEED OF LIGHT IS ALLOWED TO VARY
Divine Albert has said the speed of light is constant in the sense
that it does not vary with the speed of the light source. Divine
Albert has also said the speed of light is variable in the sense that
it varies with the gravitational potential. This variability of the
otherwise constant speed of light does not prevent Einsteinians from
singing "Divine Einstein" http://www.bnl.gov/community/Tours/EinsteinPics/Einsteine.jpg
bacause Divine Albert has never said that, if the speed of light
varies with the gravitational potential, something terrible would
happen. Divine Albert has said something terrible would happen only if
the speed of light varies with the speed of the light source:
Divine Albert: "If the speed of light is the least bit affected by the
speed of the light source, then my whole theory of relativity and
theory of gravity is false."
If Divine Albert had said:
Divine Albert: "If the speed of light is the least bit affected by the
gravitational potential, then my whole theory of relativity and theory
of gravity is false."
then the situation would be different. But Divine Albert has not said
so and from time to time Einsteinians do allow the constant speed of
light to vary with the gravitational potential.
