Object: One more try
Ok - I posted this yesterday morning but got no helpful responses so I
thought I'd try one more time.
My 13 YO nephew has become quite the poker player and is a big fan of
Howard Lederer. I was gonna get him the "More Secrets" DVD which runs $30.
The site is currently offering a gift pack that includes Secrets and More
Secrets of NL, Secrets of LIMIT and The Fantasy Camp DVD, along with a
Mouse Pad all for $70. Has anyone seen the Secrets of LIMIT or the Fantasy
Camp DVD? Are they worth the extra $40 it costs?
TIA

No helpful responses?
What part of "porn" didn't you understand, man?!?
I'm a 13 year old kid: "Hey little Jimmy, heres a bunch of poker
DVDs"..."oh, thanks Uncle Boring Pants".
"Hey little Jimmy, heres a bunch of hardcore porn so you don't have to
wank it to Sears catalogs anymore"...."Thanks Uncle Inappropriate, your
the coolest!"

Jesus Christ, another 'GambleAB doesn't think people under 18 should play
poker post', or is it another 'GambleAB thinks relatives of kids under 18
shouldn't encourage them to play poker' post?
You have a bug up your ***** about the strangest stuff. Just what age did
you start playing poker, GambleAB? My grandmother taught me the game when
I was around 10. When I was eleven I organized an annual poker game on a
day like Veteran's Day. By the time I was in high school I was hosting
many poker games, and our parents, either didn't know or didn't care. I
am pretty sure that neither you nor I have kids, and if you did would you
not teach them how to play poker? Actually this question I don't ask for
an answer, it is for you to reflect.
Anyway, the original poster didn't ask for an opinion about his nephew, he
asked about some products from Howard Lederer. You and I have both been
critical of the reading comprehension of many posters. This is the second
time I caught you.

I was just gonna let this go and chalk it up to a typical RGP moronic
response but after seeing Arlo's post about you the other day I had to
respond (read: laugh). I have a pretty good (read warped) sense of humor
myself but I have to admit I don't "get the joke" either. The impression I
got was pretty much summed up by Marla. It appears you have a bug up your
***** about either someone under 18 playing poker or someone teaching
someone underage to play poker. In your response on Arlo's post you said
you "just turned 22". If that's true, then I guess you haven't playing
poker that long have you? You've also still got a lot to learn about life
and family. 22 is still just a punk kid.
You don't know my nephew from Adam but if you insist:
Yes he's only 13, but he has the math skills of a college student. His
mother is a jet propulsion engineer for Boeing and his dad is an
automotive engineer for Nissan. If it wasn't for us relatives, all he
would do is study. We taught him several different card games (we are way
beyond Go Fish) that utilize his math abilities.
Would you have answered the question if I said it was for my brother? Or
better yet, if I just left the "background" out and said 'What do you
thing of these 2 DVDs?'
Oh Well - Ce La Vi - Anyone got a baseball bat? - Apparently there is a
pedestal that needs smashing :)

Title: Re: One more try 09 Dec 2004 10:47:38 AM
Please show me, in my post there, where I said that a kid shouldn't get a
poker dvd.
My joke was that an uncle/aunt would get a kid hardcore porn instead of a
poker tool. Who would do that? Noone. That is why it is amusing.
In my opinion, should a 13 year old be so inundated with poker, than all
he does is want to play in IRL/online all day, instead of doing other
things? Nope. Did you lead me, or anyone else, to believe that that will
happen if you get him the dvds? Nope. Which is why I didn't post
anything serious about the dangers of teaching younger kids the "joys and
wonders" of playing poker.
Please, read for context, and if you don't get something, ask instead of
jumping on a high horse and assuming.

OK, then I'll ask a question. Your response to Aces 'n Eights was a joke
according to you. If it really was, it wasn't funny, and it was poorly
executed. Furthermore, knowing that you flipped a guy a ration of *****
because he was proud of his 11 (I think) year old son winning money in a
tournament, I found that your response here was more of the same. So what
was the context of your response to the father of the kid who placed in
the tournament? Was that another over-our-head humorous response? And
your responses that followed, more humor?
