Obama's thinking, "It's a twista! It's a twista!"
Last AP and CNN delegate estimates show Clinton leading Obama by
almost 100 delegates going into the CA count. Judging from the map,
it can only get better as we go along. Out of that, she has 75% of
the "supers," as well.
The exit polling info is mostly for LA county, with some from SF and
Contra Costa. As usual, Alameda County doesn't seem to know what
they're doing. Latino turn out for Clinton was strong, but the
figures for whites of both sexes over 55 are astounding...68% for
Clinton, and the females for Clinton were strong all the way down to
age 30. Once you get into the Gen Y dingdongs, though, Obama takes
over, and the Gen Y turnout figures look low, but it's early for any
sort of solid exit polling from the 'burb counties yet. Seniors over
65 turned out in record numbers as well, and nearly all went for
Clinton.
Analysis: People who remember the '90s best went bigtime for Team
Clinton. "It's the economy, stupid!" works yet again, at least for
now. Latinos went for her to avoid Obama. Kids are...well, kids, and
I'd bet half of them were too busy playing with their cell phones,
Wiis and iPods to remember it was Election Day. I opined early that
Gen Y and lower GOTV efforts would be a waste of time and money, and I
may have been right on that...for once. Still, the Central Comm spent
untold resources on that age demographic, to what effect, I don't know
yet...if there was any. I know the Clinton camp was NOT spending
heavily there, and WAS spending/organizing heavily on oldsters and
women. Looks like it worked, so far.
