Apparently a bunch of Republicans became Independents recently and they
got
WEAK.
The country including centrists and moderate Republicans are sick to
death of evangelical dictated extreme rightist candidates. McCain is
alone among the GOP field who can get votes from both those groups and
it is those groups, along with moderate Dems who also like McCain, who
will decide the next President.
There is no such thing as "centrists" and there are no "moderate
Republicans." So-called moderate Republicans are DEMOCRATS.
The best way for the GOP to lose the
election is to nominate a right winger.
It would be a straight-up fair fight.
But unless Romney pulls a
rabbit out of his hat in California today, that's not going to happen.
We'll see.
