"In the two years since Sept. 11, 2001, the view of the United States
as a victim of terrorism that deserved the world's sympathy and
support has given way to a widespread vision of America as an imperial
power that has defied world opinion through unjustified and unilateral
use of military force."

==============================================================================

Some people keep saying that the terrorists hate us in the US because
of our freedoms, yet many of our former allies, including European
countries, are coming to hate us also. I seriously doubt that these
countries hate us because of our freedoms since they possess and value
many of these same freedoms.

So why are they starting to hate us? Maybe because we are an
imperialist power that too often sticks its nose and grubby little
hands into countries where they don't belong?

That is quite possible as the above article points out. But if this is
so, then isn't it logical to conclude that terrorists might also hate
us for the very same reasons and not just because of our freedoms?

The terrorists that attacked America two years ago today committed
immoral acts for which they deserve death. But if we want to prevent
further such attacks, then we need to take a long, hard look at
certain aspects of US government policy and see if some of our actions
are also immoral and further, if these acts could be a source of the
hatred the terrorists have for us.

As I pointed out in a previous post, Muslims are sensitive about trespass.
I learned this many years ago, when I was out walking during my leisure hours
and I accidentally trespassed into a Muslim orchard.
This does not automatically mean that they are bad people.

Americans are too -- if you came on my land without permission you'd get
some ***** -- especially hunting or fishing without permission.
Some dumbasses showed up last summer who somehow missed 3-4 NO TRESSPASS
signs and managed to open and close a gate and then had the balls to say
'oh we didn't know this was private land'.
that bugs ;)
