Hubris and naivete...
Your (plural) haloed 'democrats' per se - do exist except in your
imagination..
But we are fresh out of the promised Nirvanas today.
Party politics is just a way to play the yokels, and doesn't mean as
nearly as much as it did before media was massively monopolized
(controlled) and party leaderships were co-joined behind the curtains.
Democrat and Republi'con' (real Republicans are an endanged species
and also suffering from identity crisis) policies are
indistinguishable on the big ticket policy items.
Still in Iraq.
Still being gouged at the pump.
Still pushing for illegals third-world hordes.
Still haven't restored Habeus Corpus.
Still haven't repealed the 'patriot act'.
Still pumping money into a no-win eternal 'war'.
Still haven't acted on investigating the legality of the 'pre-emptive
war'.
Still looking for phantom terrorists under everyone's beds.
Still care not to address the nation destroying 'North American
Union'.
Still building the NAFTA Superhighway.
Still allowing WTO to destroy the american middle class.
None of these major issues have been address or are planning to be
addressed.
The conclusion is that they do what the neocons have done.

Party politics is just a way to play the yokels,

Looking in from the outside that's pretty much how it looks from here too.
You don't have a 'left wing' and a 'right wing' in USA politics.
You have one party politics, except that the party is split into two near
identical parts to give the illusion of democracy.
You have a far right section and an ultra right section of the same party.
You don't have a genuine left wing party to vote for even if you wanted to.
It's just the old 'good cop bad cop' technique; they both work for the same
bosses and they have both been ****ing you over for years.
It's going the same way in the UK but at least we do have a dozen parties
that we *could* vote for and these stretch from the Communist Party to the
British Nazi Party and all points between. Occasionaly there is a decisive
sea change as in 1947 and 1980 but it seems to me there is simply no
mechanism for radical change in the US. Looks like Iraq will be bleeding
you to death and civil rights will continue to be eroded (aka "the war on
terror" [snicker] ) for years to come regardless which branch of the '****
ordinary Americans' party is 'elected'.
Make the most of usenet and the web for free speech while it lasts in it's
present form. The 'New Web' is already in the planning and is on it's way.

Let's say you're right and Democrats have the White House and both houses in
2008. What do you think the world will be like in 2012? What will be the
best things going and what will be the worst? What will be the state of
immigration? What will be happening in the Middle East? What will the
economy be like? What will terrorism be like? How much will gas cost? How
many nuke plants will we be building? What will the education system be
like? Will America still be as politically polarized? Where do the
Democrats want to see America go and how will they implement plans and how
will they pay for them? Or, is it just the Democrats' turn at the feeding
trough?
Don't forget that with the Republicans in control of the WH and both houses,
they imploded and caused more problems than solutions. What will prevent
the Democrats from dropping the ball?
In general, I think people's expectations of government and any political
party are WAY too high.

Democrats want to see America go and how will they implement plans and how
will they pay for them? Or, is it just the Democrats' turn at the feeding

You left out one thing. Perspective.
You want someone to outline answerws to all of those question for a period
of 4 years in the future.
Perhaps one could attempt, but they would be a fool. The world is in a
state of flux. You don't want answeress, you want a crystal ball. You asked
about a dozen questions and want them answered right here, right now.
Come back to reality, and perhaps you could instigate a discussion.

Don't forget that with the Republicans in control of the WH and both

houses,

they imploded and caused more problems than solutions. What will prevent
the Democrats from dropping the ball?

That answer is easy. Logic, common sense, and reason.
Staying away from the extreme and above all, honesty.

In general, I think people's expectations of government and any political
party are WAY too high.

You say someone else expects to much after you fire off a dozen questions
about domestic and foregin policy in one paragraph. That's funny as hell.

Bush, Cheney, & Co. out of office. Very so much so better.

Who do you think could come to "save the day"? The Libertarians? The
Party of Selfishness? All they care about is themselves and not even
each other. They have no interest in "saving the day" or this nation
-- just their own asses.
If you cannot understand the difference between the Republicans and
Democrats as they are now, you are blind and deaf to any logic or
reason.
All you have to do is look at my original post that started this
thread to see that a great many people DO understand there is a
difference!
If you don't, it's your problem.
The Republicans have driven this nation into the ground; they have
betrayed its founding principles and basic legal and constitutional
precedents.
The Democrats might not be able to save the day, but I am very sure
they will try and often succeed to repair the great damage that has
been done.

That in and of itself will be a big step to return this nation to its

So, you're saying; same play different actors.

Nope, I'm not saying that at all. Nil, nada, no.

reason.
All you have to do is look at my original post that started this
thread to see that a great many people DO understand there is a
difference!
If you don't, it's your problem.

You failed to comprehend me because *you* are unable to. This is
*your* problem, Mr. Gardner.

You make my point in spades!

HA HA! Not at all!

Who do you think could come to "save the day"? The Libertarians? The

YOU did just *prove* mine "my point in spades", Mr. Gardner, that you
*cannot* understand what I am discussing.
As I suspected from the few posts of your I read above -- and as I
also suspected, later confirmed with a quick Google Groups search, you
are one of those self-centered and selfish Libertarians.
Given this, I'm not going to waste anymore of my time or effort on
you. I prefer to talk with rational and logical individuals.
Have the last word if you must, Tom Gardner. I am sure it will be
quite silly and just further proof my opinion of you to the readers.

Bush, Cheney, & Co. out of office. Very so much so better.

Is that the best you can say that the Democrats will bring to American
leadership?

All things considered Tom, that is a hell of a lot.

That's all Americans can look forward to, the lack of
Bush and Cheney? So, you're saying; same play different actors.

I doubt that there are another group of retards waiting to follow goober
bush's lead regardless party affiliation. I hope not at any rate, and so
should you,
