a world without ethics - Recent Fraud Revelations |
This year is becoming the year of frauds. Some could suggest what the
white house is doing is fraudulent. However, you only have to look as
far as bookshelves. First, an author admits fraud on the Oprah show.
Then, you have the stem cell cloning scientist admitting he faked the
results. Now, we have the Da Vinci Code author admitting he got a lot
of his book Da Vinci Code from another book.
Welcome to a world that denies objective "right and wrong" in God.

Hmmmmm. Bush is a born again Christian, isn't he?
Dan Brown attended Phillips Exeter Academy where the moral and social
climate is Christian. He sang in the church choir, attended Sunday
School and spent summers at Church Camp.
James Frey was an addict and most addicts learn to lie pretty early
and well. While the details of his story were exaggerated and
embellished, the reason that the book was successful was that it
touched some chord in people and that's what good storytelling is
all about. It probably should have been published as fiction, but
it really is not such a big deal in terms of the larger society.
Morality and ethics does not require bowing to a God. In fact, most
atheists have a strong sense of ethics built on cooperation and
kindness toward others. In order to live as human, we need to create
an ethics that involves empathy and caring for people and for the
world around us, but that doesn't require obedience to some
supernatural being.
