AARP favors strict gun control |
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,140986,00.html
"But the magazine wasn't interested at all. OK, that sometimes happens.
But then I started researching the magazine and found the cover stories
were all about left-wingers. Kevin Spacey, Cybil Shepard, Danny Glover,
Billy Crystal, Lauren Hutton, Jack Nicholson, Steven Spielberg. In fact, I
couldn't find one article on a conservative or even a traditionalist in
the AARP magazine -- not one.
So I had "Factor" researchers look at the AARP policy book. And we found a
very liberal philosophy. For example, the organization favors strict gun
control, entitlements for migrant workers and a progressive tax policy."

And why wouldn't AARP favor disarming victims and job safety for armed
criminals?
Don't you know where AARP came from? For many years AARP was
controlled by Leonard Davis who founded the Colonial Penn insurance
company. He used the non-profit AARP to sell over-priced insurance to
unsuspecting and gullible seniors. An expose by 60 minutes and later
an investigation by congress lifted the lid on his scam. Postal fraud
charges were settled by shutting down the Colonial Penn insurance
company. AARP, on the other hand, then moved to become a legitimate
lobby group and now is second only to the NRA in power. Politics
proved a MUCH more profitable scam than insurance. They hope that when
baby boomers retire, they will soon be number one, with the power to
overwhelm the NRA and push through the leftist agenda. Even though old
folks mostly tend to reject leftist ideas, they rarely seem to peek
behind the curtain and keep sending in the money.
For more details see AARP in Wikipedia (especially reference #3) and
also search on the late Leonard Davis.

I've never been fond of AARP but am associate member since wife is
member. I do look at them as an insurance company and would never
consider their insurance after one of their members totaled my car and I
had to fight with them.
Funny how these large groups like them, AMA, ABA and American Chemical
Society tend to be liberal when their general members are not.

No surprise. If you want to gain the influence and clout of a large
organization, the answer is simply to take over leadership at the
TOP! Go look at the NRA list of organizations that have adopted an
anti-gun agenda when the membership is clearly conservative. One prime
example is the FOP which has been anti-gun for MANY years but refuses
to poll street cop membership on attitudes toward "gun control". The
FOP leadership knows damn well that street cops are strongly against
gun control and without any poll they can pretend to speak for law
enforcement. The good news, however, is that now the FOP has come out
FOR the Tiahrt amendment. Can the leadership be changing? The funny
thing was that Mayor Bloomberg dissed the FOP (police union) calling
it some insignificant fringe organization. Pretty funny. I'm sure he'd
have loved them and be claiming they spoke for all law enforcement had
they followed the previous anti-gun policies and backed him.

It is easy to be liberal when you are gambling with other people's money.

After I joined AARP, I sent for a quote for an auto=insurance policy
from their 'preferred' carrier. I dropped the idea when the quote- for
the exact same terms- ran $300+ higher then my present carrier. They,
like Consumers Union, provide some information I find useful, but their
political aim is far, ultra-left socialism.
You know you're getting old when the car you lusted after as a teen now
qualifies for "Antique" registration plates...
