Air America Radio Files Bankrupcy |
What will it take for liberal talk radio to remain solvent, the "Fairness
Docturine" which is basically mandated socialism on the air waves?
http://sacramento.bizjournals.com/sacramento/stories/2006/10/09/daily41.html?jst=b_ln_hl
Liberal talk-radio network Air America, which provides programming for two
Sacramento-area radio stations, filed for protection under Chapter 11
bankruptcy Friday while it reorganizes.
According to court filings, the station has less than $10 million in assets
and between $10 million and $50 million in debts.
Radio personality Al Franken is owed $360,749 in wages. Air America also
reported that it owes the Minneapolis-based producer of Franken's show,
Billy Kimball, $84,893.
Air America is based in New York; KCTC-AM 1320 and KSAC-AM 1240 in
Sacramento are among those that carry the left-leaning programming, launched
as an intended counterweight to more conservative radio fare such as the
show of former Sacramento talkster Rush Limbaugh.
The New York Times reported that the two-year-old network will stay on the
air while corporate parent Piquant Inc. tries to reorganize and ecure
additional financing under a new CEO, Scott Elberg.

"mandated socialism"?
You don't know what either of those words mean.
Why should he know? He's another high school drop-out right wing *****

He doesn't have a brain and does not know the meaning of half the words he

You equate leftism with socialism?
Does that mean that you equate the pork-barrel, borrow-and-spend,
corporate
subsidy ways of the American right with capitalism?
Geese! You dropped out of school early. Didn't you?
Bush has created the biggest civil service and fiscal debt in the history
of
the USA, proving that the GOP are pure capitalists.
Right.. Bush's tax cuts will be rescinded should dems take control, in
spite of the fact the economy is booming as a positive result of them.
Otherwise, there are many aspects of Bush's policies to which I disagree.
But this thread is about Air America, a topic you are avoiding like the
plague!
If Bush's fiscal policies are so good why are we facing the biggest deficits
in history? Your vote was bought and paid for, your children (if any) will
pay for it.

Apples to oranges since this was also a fact which could have been cited
under all previous administations dating back to Carters and/or Nixon. The
fact as I stated remains. I guess you don't pay attention to financial news.
Your vote was bought and paid for, your children (if any) will pay for

Yours too then ever since the Carter/Nixon administration. But I suppose you
prefer irrelevant insults instead dealing with the thread's topic regarding
AAR going bankrupt.

I don't know what you are trying to ask, because your question is
incoherent.
If you're trying to say that fairness is anathema to the Right, you're not
disclosing anything new. It's always funny that you, on the right often
accuse us of being idealists, while, at the same time, cringing at anything
even remotely construed to be "socialist", regardless of its pragmatism, or
benificence to the vast majority of Americans.
That aside, I have to say that I don't listen to Air America much, because I
don't have any patience for five minutes of commercials to every two minutes
of content. While conservatives don't mind hearing the same ad repeated 8
times in an hour, it does bother liberals.
Also, many of the ads are selling products or services that liberals are not
interested in. For instance, I heard one about how we should convert our
investments to gold so we can cash in if-and-when the dollar tanks. Liberals
would rather earn money ethically, and don't view human tragedy as "an
opportunity".
Then there are the "snake oil" type ads whose products will cure all your
ills, make you read faster, learn foreign languages without any effort, or
get rich overnight. Those ads tend to appeal to evangelicals, and other
gullibles, not liberals who know that these things are achieved through hard
work, good habits, self-examination, ethics, and patience.
Even the public-service and socially responsible ads, or ads promoting Air
America programs are run much too often.
Liberals are just not the demographic for radio ads.
Many liberals, myself included, would gladly pay a premium for no-nonsense
listener-supported liberal radio.
But having said all that, there are two things to consider: 1. Chapter 11 is
not exactly going out of business (Flown American Airlines lately? How many
times have they reorganized?) 2. I'd point out that Fox News ran in the red
for several years, even with cash injections from rich neocons, so sometimes
these things take time.
What amazes me is that with the dozens of jabbering conservative talking
heads out there, neocons so fervently want to see Air America silenced. What
are you so afraid of?

: station either took all of air americas programs or none and they were under
: financed to begin with.
Moron radio had soros as a sugar daddy. Unfortunatly that money tree only had
so much money on it. The reason moron radio failed was due to a lack of paying
advertisers. Somehow they never figured out that when you constatly attack business
and corperations as part of you regular programming that they won't give you any money.
Has anyone heard GM or Exxon advertise on moron radio?

What will it take for liberal talk radio to remain solvent, the
"Fairness
Docturine" which is basically mandated socialism on the air waves?
"mandated socialism"?
You don't know what either of those words mean.
Why should he know? He's another high school drop-out right wing *****
shoveler who serves and obeys the wealthy.
He doesn't have a brain and does not know the meaning of half the words he
uses.
