Air America To Declare Bankruptcy |
Air America Radio will announce a major restructuring on Friday, which
is expected to include a bankruptcy filing, three independent sources
have told ThinkProgress.
Air America could remain on the air under the deal, but significant
personnel changes are already in the works. Sources say five Air America
employees were laid off yesterday and were told there would be no
severance without capital infusion or bankruptcy. Also, Air America has
ended its relationship with host Jerry Springer.

Air America should just pack up the tent. Really, it was a failed idea from
day one. Liberals, unlike Conservatives, don't need to be fortified in our
beliefs. Hell, AA wasn't even on the air in Philly in it's early days. When
it did air, it was on a tiny AM station. In Philly, Busch got no more than
15% either election. We couldn't be more blue.

Agreed. Conservatives or those who now call themselves conservatives
are a vulnerable people. They are easily lead into situations where
reality is not important. Listen to any reicht wing AM hatespew on any
day and all you hear is Liberals bad, conservatives good. Its repeated
all day , everyday. The listener falls into the trap and then becomes
the person who has brainwashed him into this surreal world of venom and
hatred , not towards a terrorist or an enemy, but a fellow American.
Its the worst kind of person who would turn America into this hateful
place at war against someone who happens to disagree with them on some
unimportant issue.
The talk radio host makes the listener believe that difference is huge
and life threatening . Its sad what these hatemonger talkiing heads
have done to the naieve , vulnerable people of this country ,who
believe the whole World is against them and they must save it from the
evil Liberals or anyone else who gets in their way. Its no different
than what Hitler did to the Germans during the 40's.

And absolutely correct.
It's what I've referred to numerous times as the "circle jerk" factor. I
truly believe that before Rush and his ilk and FNC, many conservatives
(because they were always too lazy to band together) felt isolated. Right
wing talk and FNC embolden them.
Unfortunately, these people went nuts, and the talkers... FNC, etc. saw this
great untapped "cottage industry." And the best way to keep that going is to
"fan the flames" so to speak.
It brings to mind a comedy movie from the early 80's called "Under the
Rainbow." The premise (taken from a book) was that when filming "Over the
Rainbow" the studio needed to employ actors to play the Munchkins. In those
days you didn't have the network, villages, etc. that "little people " have
now. So they bring these folks in from all over the country. People who
thought they were one of the few who were height challenged.
They get together, look at one another, say "Hey I'm not alone
here"......and proceed to go f*cking nuts. The partying mad Mardi Gras look
like a catholic Mass.
I see right wing media as much the same.

Which is telling. I was reading an article about what passes for reform
activists in Iran these days... mostly people distributing reading materials
on the sly, wearing the wrong clothes in private, listening to banned music,
etc. They were saying the best thing the US could do about regime change in
