In a horrific display of barbarism, a masked person claiming to be Abu
Mus'ad Al Zarqawi slaughtered American contractor Nick Berg. The video
was released on a website that is frequented by followers of Ansar Al
Sunnah in Iraq, and almost immediately appeared on a host of other
Arabic language jihad websites.

In a horrific display of barbarism, a masked person claiming to be Abu
Mus'ad Al Zarqawi slaughtered American contractor Nick Berg. The video
was released on a website that is frequented by followers of Ansar Al
Sunnah in Iraq, and almost immediately appeared on a host of other
Arabic language jihad websites.

The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks,
standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit � similar to a
prisoner�s uniform � who identified himself as Nick Berg, a U.S.
contractor whose body was found on a highway overpass in Baghdad on
Saturday.

Sitting in a chair, Berg made the following statement: �My name is
Nick Berg, my father�s name is Michael, my mother�s name is Susan,�
the man said on the video. �I have a brother and sister, David and
Sarah. I live in ... Philadelphia.�

The video then changes to a scene of masked men, with Berg sitting in
front of them. After reading a statement, the masked men were seen
pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A
scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting �Allahu Akbar!� �
�God is great.� They then held the head out before the camera.

Berg's body was found yesterday in Iraq.

A statement to the nation

The praise of Allah for all Muslims with his support and the
humiliating of those who attempt to defeat Islam and who attack it and
who entice the unbelievers with their cunning.

The one that appreciated the days countries with its justice and the
prayer and the greeting on from above the Islam lighthouse by its
sword as for after :

You rejoice at the first signs of the dawn that have started that have
granted the wind of triumph. Allah was benevolent to us in Al

10 May 2004 - Al Qaeda Follows Through With Promised Assassinations

Over the past few months, it has become apparant that Al Qaeda has a
very specific modus operendi. They tell us what they are going to do,
then they do it.

This was true with the bombings in Spain, the attacks in Riyadh and
Basra, and the continued insurgency in Fallujah and Baghdad.

But no where has it been more obvious that in the assassination of the
Chechyan president this weekend by Al Qaeda operatives. President
Akhmad Kadyrov was sitting in the VIP area of a stadium, watching
Victory Day celebrations, when the bomb went off.

This attack, perhaps more than many others, shows the incredible
patience that Al Qaeda is willing to exercise in order to successfully
complete a mission. The attack in Grozny's Dinamo stadium was
obviously a long-term plan. A land mine had been planted in the
stadium during construction. It exploded, destroying a stand and the
VIP area. An attack almost exactly one year ago in Grozny's Dinamo
stadium on May 9, 2003, killed two policemen and injured one other.
The incident forced cancellation of the local Victory Day parade
commemorating the defeat of Nazi Germany and the Soviet conquest of
Central Europe.

The attack was hailed as a success in a posting today on Al Qaeda's
Yahoogroup, Global Islamic Media Centre. (A translation of the posting

Al Qaeda has been highly focused on assassinations in recent weeks,
with articles by Saudi Al Qaeda leader Abu Hajir Abdul Aziz Al Moqrim
outlining the techniques to be used in a successful assasination.
Based on the extensive coverage given to this topic, it is likely that
there will be additional assassinations in the near future. The death
of Chechyan rebel leader Abu Al Walid several weeks ago was
memorialized in Voice of Jihad, and in that article the author vowed
that Al Qaeda would seek revenge against the Chechyan leaders for Abu
Walid's death.

Analysts at the Northeast Intelligence Network will continue to
translate and analyze Al Qaeda's postings and publications in an
attempt to gain further insight as to future targets. The clues are
there. They publicize their plans and methods. Discerning who, what,
and when from their publications is the hard part.
