Today in the USA there is a multiplicity of factions and/or special
interest groups wanting implementations that regulate society. We do
have inalienable rights that we are born with that no can take unless
we let them, but if these are inalienable rights, how is it that others
can take them away, and why is no one doing anything about these
rights. And a right? What is a right anyway? Is a right something
given to us or is it already ours? The answer is simple; we are born
with rights that no one can take away, unless we let him or her.
The government cannot give us rights; all rights are endowed by our
Creator. Welfare, healthcare, social security, and affirmative action
are not rights, but privileges. We are not born with these privileges.
Giving money to us after it is taken by force is not a right; it is a
crime. We have the right to live, think, speak, believe, prosper, and
to protect ourselves. Socialism is the act of empowering the
government to take what is ours and then give it back to use, after
they have generously benefited their selves with it first.
All socialist states are created in the same manner. A centrist power
convinces the populace of the necessity of a centrist power. They
convince every faction to consider that they need the power of the
government to save them as victims from some other group: the most
memorable and most powerful movement of affirmative action was the
slaughter of 13 million people; the National Socialist Party of Adolph
Hitler. This is not the only left wing organization is not the only
country that has taken control, removed the power from the people, and
then slaughtered many; many others have as well.
We all have heard many times the horrendous slaughter of 6 million
Jews; however, there was a total of approximately 13 million killed by
that sadistic regime. There were 3 million Catholics, 3 million soviet
prisoners, 250 thousand Roma, 80 dissidents, 70 thousand handicap (some
for being left handed), 12 thousand homosexuals (The last homosexual
killed under Hitler was himself), and 2.5 thousand Jehovah Witnesses.
Of these, an estimated 2 million innocent children were killed. This
occurred after Hitler disarmed the honest citizens in 1939. (Brazilian
Congressman Alberto Fraga's speech to the Brazilian Congress)
This was not the only incident of such proportion after the honest
citizens were disarmed. In 1935 China disarmed the good citizens; from
1946 to 1957 the Chinese government hunted down and exterminated over
20 million of its own citizens and over 27 million others. In 1911
Turkey disarmed its good citizens and hunted down and exterminated 1.5
million Armenians. Returning to more recent time, in 1964 Guatemala
disarmed the good people and hunted down and exterminated 100,000 Mayan
Indians unable to defend their selves. Uganda disarmed the good people
and hunted down and exterminated 300,000 Christians that were unable to
defend their selves. During the Twentieth Century alone, as a direct
result of gun control, over 60 million honest citizens were hunted down
and exterminated because they could not defend their selves. (Brazilian
Congressman Alberto Fraga's speech to the Brazilian Congress)
There is no basic right more precious than life. In order to preserve
life, our own lives, we are willing to sacrifice the other rights such
as speech, and the pursuit of happiness. But preservation of all of
our rights is simple; preventing others with dishonorable intentions
from having the opportunity to remove our rights. If we present the
ability to defend ourselves from all foes, we are at liberty. It is
not necessary to own a firearm, but have the right to own a firearm;
criminals do not have x-ray vision. They do not know who is and is not
armed. When gun control laws are implemented, the criminal knows who
their next victim is, anyone that is physically weaker than they are.
Women and the elderly are usually the greatest victims during acts of
gun control.
"It has been just over a year since Australia has taken over 600,000
arms costing the contributors over 500 million US Dollars. In only one
year homicides have risen 3.2%, assaults up 8.6%, and armed assaults
have significantly risen 44%. In the State of Victoria alone crime has
risen 300%. The politicians are lost; they know do not know how to
explain to their constituencies that they have spent so much, and there
is now such a deterioration of public security. Naturally the
law-abiding citizens turned in their arms, while the criminals ignored
the law they way they always do." Alberto Fraga, Congressman of the
Federal District of Brazil. This was part of his speech before the
congress just before the nationwide referendum to ban arms in Brazil;
64% of the people voted against gun control.
The English police once patrolled the streets unarmed. Crime has risen
35% since disarming the public. Today, London is the crime capital of
Europe. Canada is also facing the same problems with their acts of gun
control. The USA varies from state to state because of states rights;
Washington, DC has the strictest gun control laws and the some of the
best in the world in law enforcement with resources to prevent crime,
but has the highest rate of violent crimes in the USA.
If restricting guns create more crime, then loosening gun control laws
would reduce crime. In Houston, there was a rising epidemic of
assaults against women. A right to carry a concealed weapon bill was
passed; but, the epidemic vanished. There was not a significant
increase of women carrying assault weapons in their purse; the
psychological effect of knowing that a law-abiding citizen could be
armed was too much for a cowardly criminal to fathom. Also in
Kennesaw, GA, a law requiring homeowner to maintain a firearm with
ammunition had drastic effects on crime.
In April 1982, Kennesaw government officials responded to the Morton
Grove ban by passing an ordinance "to provide for the civil defense of
the City of Kennesaw, and further in order to provide for and protect
the safety, security and general welfare of the City and its
inhabitants." The ordinance states that "Every head of household
residing in the City Limits of the City of Kennesaw is required to
maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore," except
criminals, persons with moral or religious objections, and those
mentally or physically incapacitated (Code of Ordinances, Chapter 8:
Civil Defense and Disaster Relief, Section 8-10, enacted March 15,
1982.). Gun ownership rates were not expected to change after the
ordinance; most households were presumed to have firearms. Instead, it
was expected that publicity surrounding the ordinance would warn
criminals that residents were capable of protecting themselves and
their community and would do so with the government's blessing. Between
1981-1985 violent crimes in Kennesaw dropped 71%; burglaries dropped
65%. Between 1981-1993, Kennesaw's population doubled, but burglaries
dropped 16% ("The War Against Handguns", National Rifleman's
Association).
Candido Mota, in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, is less than 100 miles
from one of the crime capitals of the world, Sao Paulo City. Candido
Mota has a population of over 30,000. This city of German and Italian
descendents is a well-armed population. I visited the city and entered
the homes of many proud gun owners showing off their weapons. I
recently interviewed the Chief of Police, Dr. Ramon. He stated that he
has four police officers patrolling at a time. His department consists
of 28 uniformed and administrative personnel. For the past ten years
while he has been the chief of police for the city there has been one
homicide per year. In the recent year the Government of Brazil paid
100 Reals (approximately 45 US Dollars) for each firearm turned in.
The citizens turned in 260 fire in 2005. The year is not over and
there have been three homicides in Candido Mota.
Does owning a firearm contradict Judeo-Christian values? The Jewish
scriptures are full of writings stating that one must protect his or
her family. Before the time of having a king in Israel, the people
lived in a confederacy of tribes that had only local government. It
was considered an evil for the people of Israel to reject God by
wanting a king to rule over them; therefore, there were only local
individuals that defended the peace. Even Jesus told his disciples to
carry swords. The disciple Simon Peter was trained enough to cut off a
soldier's ear. At that time, the sword was a modern day equivalent
of a firearm.
It's more than just guns. We have the right to decide for ourselves
what is right for us. Do we actually believe that if we turn power
over to our elected officials they will do more what is best for us
than we will? How double minded can we be where we complain about our
political leaders being corrupt power-mongers while we ask them to take
more control of our lives. Democrats and republicans, liberals and
conservatives are guilty of asking what the government can do for us
and how it can control something, we do not agree with. There are many
people in the USA, and there are many views on morality. How can
everyone be satisfied? Easily, mind you own business. Guns are one of
the cornerstones in the wall of our liberty, as we give up more; it
becomes easier to take down the wall.
You may not consider this enough evidence to prove that no gun laws are
better, but it is evident that removing guns from honest citizens does
not reduce crime and that allowing honest citizens to own guns does not
increase crime. What it is that is that is evident is that we are
better off governing our own lives rather than some elected official in
DC. Just like gun control, prohibition creates organized crimes and
monopolies for privileged businesses such as Merck. Trade restrictions
create black markets and monopolies for privileged businesses such as
Wal-Mart that can pay high priced lawyers to cut the red tape. And gun
control allows privileged political leaders, their puppeteers, and
criminals to have more control of the people through intimidation. The
police cannot be there with you twenty-four hours a day, but a firearm
can.
