Another Wasted Conservative August |
A WASTED AUGUST:
Rather than "rolling up their sleeves and sitting down with the Senate to
work on a compromise," House conservatives spent August holding over 20
immigration hearings as part of a "taxpayer-funded road show."
The hearings were essentially "blustery news conferences" that gave
opponents of comprehensive reform an opportunity to "flog" the Senate bill.
In one telling remark, Rep. Charles Norwood (R-GA) admitted his witness list
had been less than balanced. "What I wanted was witnesses who agree with me,
not disagree with me," he said.
The hearings did not have their desired effect; "they have yet to set off
the anti-illegal-immigration earthquake that planners intended when the
sessions were announced in July."
"I think these hearings were put up as a way of wasting time, as a way of
getting through August and September," Rep. Silvestre Reyes (D-TX) said. "I
think that is the whole strategy behind this."

Why do conservatives waste Americans time and money?

Sounds like WMD all over again doesn't it?
They find people who tell exactly what they want to hear (yes men) and
then they act on that information. The entire GOP is in serious
disrepair. They can't be trusted on immigration, budgets or national
security.
