Tip: A real terrorist cell requires 5 suicides and 2 external operators. The
2 externals are:
- a political handler - typically a sleeper professional
- a technical handler - the bomb guy
The suicides are:
- 2 smart guys who know the mission and are dedicated
- 3 dumb guys who don't know the mission.
The last three, for the 9/11 highjackers, didn't even know their mission was
suicidal.
Only the political handler actually knows any terrorist leaders - any "Al
Qaeda number 2s", in the parlance. They trigger him to set the date for the
team.
If you don't have the technical handler, you don't get a real bomb.
Terrorists don't waste good technical skills on only one operation. You
don't put the political or technical guy on the suicide team!
The inept attacks in Britain were probably the result of crews hastily
formed in response to Blair's resignation. They probably at least didn't
have their bomb guy. Hence the crude petrol bombs attached to nails and
whatnot.

It is al Qaeda still, but they are forced to resort to dunderheads
now. It is amazing that you have Loyal Bushies still trying to spin
how al Qaeda has elites working for them. al Qaeda has always been an
organization that relied on the refuse of humanity, individuals
flushed down the drain by globalism, to carry out its act. It is a
bit like Penguin's gang from the Batman movie (I might as well get
something useful out of that movie once in my life).
Reality now is that al Qaeda is an organization of bafoons. They are
opportunist in nature, and have to hope someone finds them. All they
can do is disrupt at this point. They have no standing army that will
take over any city in the west, let alone country (they do marginal
proxy stuff in Africa). All they do is threaten to harm this or
that. At this point, they are almost less of a threat than organized
crime to the life of the west. Normal accidents cause more harm now
than al Qaeda.
And 99%+ of people don't want them to run anything. Even among
militant Muslims, they don't want Bin Laden to be the one leading
them.
However, they do pose a potential threat of WMD and other such
materials aren't locked down. This is more of a threat of lax
security on the part of states than anything else. Particularly
problematic could be that a third-world dictator with poor facilities,
gets ahold of some nukes. At that point, you do worry, because some
al Qaeda back group could end up breaking into the facility and
stealing them.
As of now however, al Qaeda is quite pathetic, with Afganistan being
their high point (through the Taliban). Somolia is failing also for
them. They just can't hold anything major at all,
