Bush at 31% approval. Can resignation be far behind? |
Worst of all, most Americans are writing off the rest of Bush’s
presidency; two-thirds (66 percent) believe he will be unable to get
much done, up from 56 percent in a mid-October poll; only 32 percent
believe he can be effective.

Newsweek
Nov. 11, 2006 -
President George W. Bush’s response was swift and decisive--if a
little late.
After voters gave Republicans "a thumpin’" at the polls, handing
Democrats control of both houses of Congress, Bush banished his
contentious defense secretary;
invited the presumptive leaders of the new House and Senate to lunch
(would-be House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had pasta; the president ate
crow, a Bush aide joked);
and suffered through two pained photo-ops with Pelosi and Harry Reid,
the Nevada Senator expected to become Majority Leader.
And what did the president get for listening to the voice of the
American people?
The worst approval rating of his presidency.
President Bush’s job approval rating has fallen to just 31 percent,
according to the new NEWSWEEK Poll.

How soon before his approval rating is in the twenties? Nixon
had
the decency to resign, but that's expecting too much from Bush.
We can dream, can't we?

Bush is too delusional to resign.
And, getting nothing done is better than having him actually do something...

Can resignation be far behind?
Cheney resigns, Bush appoints someone more-or-less human to be VP. Bush
resigns, VP More-or-Less Human becomes pres., pardons Bush, Cheney, etc.

Since the Democrats control
both houses of congress and
both houses must approve of
the new "VP More-or-Less Human"
by a simple majority, which
Democrat do you think bush,jr will select?

If Zongor, Cannibal Lord of the Seventh Circle of Sadism, is a Democrat,
he'd be a better VP than Cheney.

Just as a matter of interest, I don't know much about the way that
things work over there, what would happen if congress refused to
approve of whoever the president selected; and kept doing so? Could
this go on for ever, or does the president eventually have the power to
enforce his appointment for VP, against the will of congress? Has
anything like this ever happened, or does congress always appove
whoever the president selects?

1. This situation has only happened once before, Ford became president.
2. The office would remain vacant if congress could not agree
With the office vacant and the president's office is vacated, the
Speaker of the House would become president
