Painesville - A deportation threat put a scare into the region's largest
Mexican community, causing hundreds on Saturday to head to the one haven
they trust - the church.
Fear of mass illegal-immigrant roundups in Lake County spread early
Friday morning through the area's Mexican community. Many worried they
would be arrested and separated from family members who were born here.
"We are scared," said Guadelupe Gonzalez, 36, who sat in the basement of
St. Mary Catholic Church with a rosary wrapped around his hand. "They
can take me and send me back to Mexico."
Gonzalez and his wife and two children joined about 400 others in the
church waiting for the roundups to end.

Cool. Amazing how no one in the press or congress is even talking about
charging these church leaders. But then, both the press and congress
have been bought off by the corporations that employ the illegal laborers.

And the people they were hiding got instantly deported to their home
countries, where the police summarily executed them, using free bullets each

This is wrong-headed and should be stopped at the archbishop level.
Though the concept of 'santuary' stems from the medieval period in
this case it is being abused.
Humane civil laws apply in the US - not religious traditions
established and needed during periods of autocratic feudal abuse.
By supporting illegal activity the Church opens itself to reactions
such as your rightful indignation.
The illegal mexicans have placed themselve in a state of illegality
through their own willfullness - and not at the mercy of autiocratic
whimsy. The Church has no right to support people who willfully break
secular law - when those people could have easily avoided such
activity.
Render unto Caesar those illegals which are Caesar's.
PS: The same applies to all of the Protestant churches engaged in the
same practice.
