DeLuca Says He Will Not Resign

Hartford -
Senate Minority Leader Louis C. DeLuca will not resign his Senate seat
after his guilty plea on a threatening charge, he said today, but will
wait for his fellow Republicans to determine if he should retain his
leadership post.
DeLuca pleaded guilty this week to a misdemeanor charge after he
admitted asking a reputedly mob-connected businessman to threaten a
man DeLuca thought was abusing his granddaughter in 2005.
A final decision, DeLuca said, will be reached after Republican
senators have spoken to their constituents and reflected on their own
wishes about his future role with the party.
