Conservatives against the Iraq War #10, Anthony Zinni |
Zinni says heads should roll, that this was all predictable, and that
the President got bad advice.
Sorry, Gen. Zinni, but George Bush got exactly the advice he wanted.

Scene: Press Conference, East Room of the White House
Bush enters dressed like Don Quixote. "Before I take questions, I
have an opening statement." He signals the Marine Corps Band. They
start to play the hit song from "Man of La Mancha" while he sings
along:
To dream the impossible dream,
to fight a permanent foe,
to ignite a new type of conflict,
to rush in where my Dad would not go...
To claim the God-given right
to wage war and lay waste from afar,
to use arms for a cockeyed new theory
to wage global pre-emptive war!
Here's my Crusade --
It's pre-emptive war
no matter how pointless,
no matter the gore --
To claim I've the right
without question or pause,
to so carelessly send kids to die
for the neo-con cause!
And I know
if I remain true
to this fanciful quest
that my heart
will be peaceful and calm
when they're laid to their rest.
Who's surprised the world's more dangerous
since I got advice I chose to ignore
deciding to unleash this madness?
To wage global pre-emptive WAR!
As he turns to leave, a reporter shouts out,"You implied you were
going to take questions." Bush shrugs, and says, "I meant it when I
said it."
FADE OUT
