Consumer prices rise again. Core inflation highest since 1995. |

U.S. May Consumer Prices Rise 0.4%
(Bloomberg) --
Rising gasoline costs and rents propelled U.S. consumer prices higher
last month, increasing speculation that Federal Reserve policy makers
will raise interest rates later this month.
Prices paid by Americans rose 0.4 percent after April's 0.6 percent
increase, the Labor Department said in Washington.
Excluding food and fuel, so-called core prices rose a larger-than-
forecast 0.3 percent for a third straight month.
Core inflation over the last three months was the highest since 1995.
Fed policy makers are leading a worldwide chorus of central bankers
warning of inflation risks.

Up and up and up they go. Where they stop nobody knows.
Consumer prices have been rising for 60+ years that I know of, Harry.
They're never going to stop rising unless we get deflation, which no one
wants.
As for "core inflation," we're just coming out of a period of
*exceptionally* low inflation, virtually zero inflation by some measures,
such as most of us have never seen before in our lifetimes. Inflation is now
returning to about normal.
This is nothing to worry about -- compare with the Jimmy Carter years, when
inflation rose to 14% and gave us 19% prime rates! That was not only the
worst inflation we've had in peacetime, it was even worse than during most
of our war years.

Unfortunately wages have been stuck for the last 20 years.

Real wages have dropped over 5% since Bush and the Neoclowns took over.

Except the Fed Reserve is raising rates to stop the present inflationary
spiral from getting worse. This is an effect of to much dept and war
spending.

Consumer prices, however, are not.
