leaked the name of a CIA operative whose husband publicly disputed
Bush administration claims that Iraq tried to buy uranium in Africa.

Elliott Abrams, who pleaded guilty in 1991 to withholding information
from Congress in the Iran-contra affair, was promoted to deputy
national security adviser to President Bush.

Elliott Abrams, Assistant secretary of state
for inter-American affairs 1985-1989: pleaded
guilty to withholding information from Congress
Abrams agreed to cooperate with Iran-Contra
investigators and plead guilty to two misdemeanor
charges.
He was sentenced in 1991, to two years of
probation and 100 hours of community service.
