'Cut and Run' Captain |
It's true. The Captain is going to cut and run. On Wednesday the
Captain is leaving the sunny climes of Southern California and moving
to Western Nevada. After 31 years of living cheek to jowl with 12
million people it's time to get away. Do a little fishing, hunting or
just getting away.
My responses and posting may be hit and miss for a while but I'll be
back. I have a job to do.
Compassion would also include teaching how the world really works to

We ran from the hollers of NE TN two years ago -- to the Mississippi Gulf
Coast, exactly where Katrina came ashore -- cleaned us out and now we're
like lost souls -- and at age 60-something, it's too damn late to be lost.
Western Nevada sounds like a good place -- clean air, clean water, huntin',
fishin', dark skies for telescopes.

I just had a disaster with an orchestra almost happen. Imagine a world
premiere recording of a piece that has never been played live, recorded with
the trumpet in the wrong key all through. How it happened is a story in
human error.
Now they are going to re-record it, but it had to be dropped from the CD to
be released in June.

Ives piece. There were going to be 9 pieces on the CD (two of them my
editings), now there will be merely 8.
What happened was that I put the part in for a C trumpet, which sounds as it
is written. Someone moved the part to B-flat and then handed it to a C
trumpet player.
And now I find out that they didn't even have the 2nd trumpet part prepared,
so it wasn't played.
They're recording another one of my Ives scores (about a pleasure boat
blowing up on the East River in Aug. 1904) this June along with the
re-recording. THIS time I am preparing all the parts myself instead of
trusting them to others. (I did that with the one piece only because I was
so ***** sick in '94 & '95.)
