Don't expect the Democrats to win either the House or the Senate at
all. Their own rampant gerrymandering of congressional seats after the
last census basically was a rear-guard defense strategy of culling
nonwhite voters statewide into nearly-all-nonwhite safely-Democrat
districts - but at the price of making all other districts virtually
uncontestably Republican by making them so short of blacks!

Funny thing about this is that, historically
speaking, the party out of power *usually*
does pick up a substantial number of seats
in both houses of Congress in mid-term
elections in a president's second term.
What the Democrats probably needed to do
here was fake having some maturity, show
some ersatz gravitas, imitate the sounds
of competence, and impersonate leaders,
keeping it as low-key and responsible
as possible and let the natural electoral
trend sweep them back into power.
Instead, they're acting like themselves
and reminding voters nationally what
miserable fools they are. For instance,
just today, if some news zipper on one
of the cable stations wasn't lying to
me, Chuck Shumer was out blowing his
cakehole off. Now, Shumer isn't running
for re-election, and even if he was his
seat seems, for inexplicable reasons, to
be safe.
But in *national* terms there is no single
Democratic senator, except for Madame Nu
herself, who more repels voters in "fly over"
country.
And Shumer is absolutely repellant, not
just relatively so. And why is he so
repellant? Because out there in the rest
of the country, where even independents and
Democrats are fiercely protective of their
gun rights, Shumer is seen as *the* number
one gun grabber in the country.
He is a living, breathing invitation to
vote for the Republican, whoever the Republican
might be, because Shumer is deeply and
profoundly loathed on the gun issue.
Now, there's my helping hand to Democrats
for this year's election.
